Re: Europe 1099 - The 1st Crusade (V7 - Pg. 1&5 Please comment!)

Historical Accuracy: Asia Minor is now Seljuk Turks and holds all the regions hold by Seljuk Turks before the arrival of the Crusaders

It's not historically accurate that the Seljuks hold Antioch in 1099 (included in the name of the map), IRL won a year earlier in a very important battle by the ...

Re: Europe 1099 - The 1st Crusade (V7 - Pg. 1&5 Please comment!)

So, if this is a map about the crusades it must represent the situation by the time pope Urban made his belic speech.

Er... but it is set in 1099, around a year after Antioch was taken by the crusaders, right? Or are you aiming at an earlier date, say around 1096, when the people's crusade went ...

Re: Europe 1099 - The 1st Crusade (V7 - Pg. 1&5 Please comment!)

how would the kingdom of Jersalem (Catholics from the Crusades) be there before even the first one? and if you included them you'd also need to include the principality of Antioch and would mess up this map anyway

There never were many Catholics - or "Latins" as they were called - in the area, at ...

Re: Retire plans

Your maps are great! Please don't lose hope. I'm sure your new work will progress, in time. You've got a great score already! Everybody here (I assume) are doing voluntary work, so real life sometimes intervenes. Also, I guess waiting somewhat is part of "quality assurance", where others have a ...

Ah, well, English isn't my native language. :)

And hey, reason I'm commenting is because this map has great promise! I'd say, go for a more focused theme and skip the other Scandinavian nations altogether, like you say. That'd be way cool!

On a side note Denmark and Sweden are ancient arch ...

Re: Europe 1099 - The 1st Crusade (V7 - Pg. 1&5 Please comment!)

It's hard to comment on this map, your vision is so different from what I'd have done. Anyway, in 1099 the Antioch and Tripoli on your map most certainly belonged to the Kingdom of Jerusalem, and not some vague Asia Minor faction (Turks?). Also, you should consider adding Edessa, which was a major ...

Re: Danelaw(Ver 1.2)

Well, I think you should focus on the Danes attacking England, then, to be frank. Replacing your sub-map of Scandinavia with a detailed map of Denmark, for instance. Having Finland in it at all is just silly. Whereas the Swedes is highly unlikely and the Norweigians is odd. Just my 5 cents.

Re: Scandinavia - Rev X "the late one" - Oct 3

Continue developing this! Don't get discouraged. I'd recommend making an original map based on satellite photos, rather than just copy + pasting the images in. Perhaps even with a theme, say the 30-years war or Nordic conflict over 500 years or whatever catches your fancy, other than the region ...

Re: Road Trip [2/24/09: Draft 2 Page 1]

Hey! Don't drop your idea! It has great promise. Really. For me, personally, it's just that there are quite a few US maps out there already, so yet another would need some kind of extra twist.

I'd love to see some development! Dunno, 1920's Oil Rush map based on highways, 1930's gangster map, today ...

Er... is Finland (!) attacking Britain? That seems a bit... weird. I guess you've heard this to death already, but Danes (and perhaps some Norweigians) went for Britain (and France). While Swedish vikings mostly went for Russia. And Fins... well... suffered from the Swedes, I guess.

I'd love to see ...

Boy, an ugly draft! But sketches are ofc sketches. Not to... um... be negative or anything, but do we really need another US map? Otherwise, your ideas seem interesting. That is, some kind of roadwarrior theme. Might not be at all what you're going for, but Mad Max-style? I'd go for it. ;)

Re: crusades

There seem to be two very interesting projects on Europe at large, during the age of crusading, being drafted at the moment: Europe 1099 and Holy Wars . Both rather Medieval: Total War -ish, IMHO, and that's a good thing! I'm hoping they'll progress fast through development so I can play them ...
