I am not here for pleasure, we are developing property here, so I am visiting once a month for a few days, quite an experience and difficult, I must say. Tomorrow I am on my way back to Cape Town in South Africa where my home is, cannot wait :)

There's no reason to suspect Voltanic that strongly. He's no more or less likely to be Thing than most everyone else. And if you're town you should never want to be BTed since you would know it wouldn't lead you to the Thing.

I don't get what Rag sees in Votanic that makes him more the thing than others, except hugging flavour as if it's super important. Especially the switch from 'you spotted the discrepancy, good tactic' to 'you are using this against me so I'm pushing you now' (paraphrased). Fwiw, I still think Rag is a bit townie - but less so than others.

Charle wrote:oh no, now I am also confused. Good posts by both Traf and EW. Traf, I thought you would be Mac or Childs, I have a feeling that both of them are amongst us. Although I am keeping my BT vote as is, I am convinced that EW will give us a clear result. Reason for my vote is so that we can move on to the lynch decision.

I dont get why Charle is voting me if he's convinced that both Traf and myself are town - solely to move in the lynch direction. Why not consider pivoting to someone you do suspect, then?
BT Charle
Staying on a vote while escaping accountability/denouncing the vote is scummy.

@Swang voting for a lynch before a BT is good for signalling intentions (and I've done the same D1), but it only takes 5 votes so please consider unvoting if we somehow get close to lynching Rag without having done a BT.

If i was The Thing i would stay low and out of the fight today but instruct my recruited one that he has to cause mayhem and try to scatter town as much he can.

I would also have recruited an experienced player, one with a strong voice, to do so. Like EW or Ragian..

Ragian could very well be the recruited one with his D1 post "i did not saw the movie" discrepancy to D2 "i saw the movie" and his Votanic scatter vote.

But that means - at best - Ragian is recruited and not the original Thing. Do you really think The Thing would be that careless? No, The Thing can't afford to post fast or much, he has to reread everything twice or three times before posting making sure nothing can be misinterpreted..

Let's stay on target to find the recruiter.

Well it is day 2 and things have gotten decidedly crotchety....either because we're trapped on a desolate Antarctic research base with an alien ikiller...or, because we've all read and reread too many shrill and suspicious forum posts. Either explanation is acceptable.

Currently, over half the players are on the hot seat to some degree or other, including myself.

What do I think... Still no smoking gun. Everybody has a hunch... based on something that triggers them in their reads.

My reads, not final or complete in any way.
1. Pixar: Good townies die young...
2. Extreme: Talks a lot and all over the map. Comes off as fickle but then there is a lot to be fickle about.
3. Traf: He's been on the defensive since day one, the original reason for hhis bandwagon that seems trite (Getting pissed about Sonic)...
4. Dega: Also railroaded on Day 1 and then got vindicated... but being a previously cleared BT isn't great. The Thing might convert him with the hope that the town won't pick on Dega twice.
Admittedly t is kinda boring to BT the same guy again, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be wise...
5. Ragian: Do I think Ragian's little lie is a scum-tell, not necessarily, because I agree that flavor isn't key, so why lie about it. Still, his flipping out about flavor-talk does come off as an over-reaction, at least equal to anything that Traf has been grilled for.
6. Charle: He seems to get on any bandwagon that is convenient today an yesterday. That actually is suspicious, but maybe he is just laidback about playing mafia... He seems that way,but that might just be his avatar. He also has a (good?) RL excuse that he is busy working abroad.
7. Swang: He seems similar to Ragian, in that he is semi-quiet and then suddenly jumps out with his fingers a-pointing. he's dramatic about his scum-tells (not the only on) but that doesn't mean thy seem particularly substantiative.
8. Sonic: His play style is triggering, at least to me. Other players seme to be more accustomed to it, but it still sticks out to me as something odd enough to investigate.
9. Strike: Another frequent scum-teller, like EW, Ragian, Swang, etc. It is necesssary gameplay, nothing necessarilywrong with it, but of course always being on the offensive is also a great defense.
10. Votan: I really don't like starting random scum-hunts, though I get that is a common technique. I really like to have something to hang my hat one. Not something I'm pretending to hang my hat on. This a mafia game, any of you might be lying. ..and at least in small ways, everybody does lie... I'm just gonna keep sifting for real evidence that pokes through the word salad.

Good post, much effort.

PS: "triggering play style" is over.., i like to trigger it in the beginning yes. Because i just see it as "Collecting data". Collecting pieces of the puzzle if you will.

For the record, I think Votanic is town. He leans too hard into flavor at times sure but that's a common new player mistake and it does feel odd that Ragian is grilling him so much on it.

Swang is appearing more town to me today than he did yesterday. Son!c spouts a lot of nonsense and then has some good insights. It's just deciphering the actual reads from the nonsense that's the problem.

EW is a bit defensive but he also got fairly defensive when Son!c was pressuring him in The Tick game. So nothing there that I think really adds to my suspicions and beyond the vote on Son!c he seems fairly consistent.

unBT for now

At this point, i think id take off Swang and Son!c from my list to BT and add Charle and tentatively Ragian.

Ragiana behavior definitely feels slightly off, the question is has his behavior shifted or was he already off Day 1.

Charle is laid back. He is not the Thing (ofcourse you never know but lets not get paranoia?. Just go back D1 and find the recruiter)..

6. Charle: He seems to get on any bandwagon that is convenient today an yesterday. That actually is suspicious, but maybe he is just laidback about playing mafia...

Morning everyone, I am almost on my way to airport and then offline for the rest of the day. Yes, I am sorry that I am not so active at the moment, hopefully things are back to normal from tomorrow onwards. One thing I can assure you, is that you will waste a BT on me, but if that is your choice and you guys think it is best for town, go for it. I would suggest to rather BT me on D3 or D4.

I must say that EW was quick to try and move the BT away from him, do we read something between the lines?

Blood Vote:
(2) EW - Swang, Charle
(1) Traf - Sonic
(1) Sonic - Votan
(1) Votan - Ragian
(1) Charle - EW

Lynch Vote:
(1)Traf - EW
(1) Ragian - Swang

With 9 alive, it takes 5 for majority!

Reminder- BT votes are in bold red. Lynch votes are in bold blue. I will not tally them from here on if there is a mistake.

But I like to think I've been my normal quick self ever since I got killed in that other game on MU  . I'm curious whether you read something between the lines, because it's an interesting closing statement to my BT vote on you.

Vote BT Traf
Traf is still my preferred blood test. I still think his emotional reaction sticks out like a sore thumb. I find his additions to the thread to be "busywork" for the most part on this day. I think it's likely that he is the recruiter.

As for the recruited, still looking around. Deg is never worth testing nor lynching but we should still take his words with a laaaaaarge grain of salt. A smart Thing might have recruited him knowing that he won't get BT'd again, and that he's also never a lynch target.

Another one on my radar is Charle, but more due to inactivity. Not sure about swang either, piggybacking and especially saying "I was going to vote BT Traf"

Unvote traf

Because if i was the Thing Ragian would have been the best choice. He had 0 suspicion on D1 and the 4 most experienced ones are you, Traf, EW and Ragian in my book.

This is lazy but correct voting, I think. We can only assess dega retroactively when we get the thing out, it's never worth spending a BT on dega and neither is it worth lynching him.

However, despite the fact that you're... a strong conversion target, I think it is still useful for us to have your reads. If not for now, then for day 3 or day 4.

First, your over-confidence in one player's innocence.
Then your random hypothetical 'If I was the Thing' story.
Even your apology about your last randwagon, just comes off sounding like the set up for the next one.

show

BT SON!C

Hope you are happy now. With players like you win chance is 0,00 anyways

But after the game is lost you'll see who was right. If i was the Thing i would have buttered you up with superb diplomacy. But as town i just say your stupid voting for me because you will lose. And town losing will be on you, not on me.
