DAY 1 Dear viewers, welcome to another exciting year of Pokemon battles in the Indigo League!
As you know, there has been some rumors about this year's Indigo League being canceled, due to so many pokemon trainers having been horribly murdered by an unknown assailant. Happily, the League leadership decided to go ahead despite the danger for the players and pokemons involved, but in a different format, which should make it slightly more difficult for anyone to just go around killing trainers.
Not that there are many trainers left to kill.
Here is Professor Oak to explain the new rules:
Professor Oak: Thank you, Reporter. Given that most of the Gym Masters have been killed, this year we decided that it would be to dangerous to keep all our fights focused on a few specific locations. Instead, I have supplied a few kids with a Pokedex and a starting pokemon, and released them into the Kanto region to find and defeat each other. The last one of them to survive will be crowned the Champion.
Reporter: Professor Oak, I understand that you have such a confidence in all the safety measures in place, that you have allowed your favorite nephew, Gary Oak, to participate in this year's competition.
Professor Oak: Well, I don't know about 'favorite'...
