tsioumiou - Cheating? [Closed]

Postby Lindax on Wed Nov 05, 2008 2:52 am

Accused:

tsioumiou

The accused are suspected of:

Other: Cheating, i.e lying.

Game number(s):

Game 3600947

Comments: I was in an 8 player escalating freestyle game and it was down to two players. I had a set and I asked him if he had a set, knowing that if he didn't I would win the game. Out of professional courtesy I would expect him to answer truthfully or simply refuse to answer. He said that he did have a set, while in fact he had NOT. Is this acceptable behavior? I think not, he cheated me out of a win, which at the very least is unethical.

It might be unethical but it was strategically the correct move as it apparently led to his win. He didnt break the rules by lying to you, and you should put him on foe if you dont agree with the way he played.

Nothing that was said in the game chat is against the rules. People do not have to disclose any information if they do not feel like it. If you do not like the player's playing style, you can put him on your Foe List and rate him accordingly. Moved to closed reports.

I put him on my foe's list. However I guess I'm missing something. Is lying a play style in the modern world? Is it ok to lie in this day and age?

Lying in game is like bluffing. You are both in that game to win. Taking that into consideration, you were already taking the risk if your opponent would answer truthfully or not. Lying falls more on poor sportsmanship or poor behavior than cheating.
