You could also increase the opacity of the texture. More grunge -> more fracturedness...
Ps. What layer mode do you use on textures? Lots of people use multiply, but I find multiply to work poorly on all but the lightest textures - for most textures, I get best results with either soft light or grain merge, sometimes hard light works too (depending on how strong I want the texture...)
