I have to say that as time passes a few things about this map and the revamp process worry me.

1. Hadrian's Wall: the graphics on this part of the map have regressed

2. size of the map: I think that there should be a rule about how much you can change the size of the map with a revamp.

old small: 600x400
new small: 577x600

old large: 800x550
new large: 750x780

so while the width has remained about the same (slightly smaller), the height has dramatically increased on both versions. This will annoy many people because they wouldn't have had to scroll before to do attacks and now they will. Remember not everyone uses BOB to get the floating action bar.

3. while the quality of the graphics seems 'foundry worthy', I think we can agree it doesn't blow us out of the water. Shouldn't this be what revamps are all about? Taking a map that is graphically inferior and make it one of the top maps. Right now, I feel like people will say, "hey this isn't much better than the old one." What's the point of making that change?

Even when Canada was changed from Graphical eyesore to graphical triumph, there were people who hated it simply because of change. Now, if it was changed to something only slightly better, I think the number of complainers would be much higher.

When you consider that this is one of the more popular maps in terms of games played, it seems important to get this done right. Taking more time to discuss this and figure out if this is really what we want to do with the map isn't going to hurt.

Well there has been over a month of nothing happening to talk out this stuff. Why bring it up now? Im not going to rework the whole damm thing to get it within the size of the current one. I would much rather abandon it.

hey I'm not saying you have to do anything

If I'm the only one who thinks this way then you have nothing to worry about.

edit: Also, the Hadrian's Wall thing is nothing new. A number of people have commented on that.

We all know its just a vocal minority that try to cause mayhem. This was proven with the classic touch up where whne given the chance people still didnt vote for the image that most represented the old image. Its jsut a resistance to change because people arent willing to adapt.

really? you're saying I'm trying to cause 'mayhem'?

You caught me. I woke up today and was at a loss. I said to myself, "I need to stir up some trouble." Then I found the perfect thread. I saw that a few people were against the Hadrian's Wall graphic you provided and decided to use that and made up a couple of other points to bring down the British Isles Revamp. Next I'm working on taking down the whole site.

So does that mean that this map thread should get moved back into the main Foundry? It's frustrating because this map has just been sitting here dormant, but nobody knows what is going on with it...

Were you ONLY referring to putting a tower in the middle to help with the four-way border? I don't think you were yet this is the only thing that changed.

I like the general style of this revamp, but I think the wall could still use a lot of work.

Well lets all play nice. :P

Edbeard makes a point, the old size should definitely come into consideration when a REVAMP is happening. But specifically in regards to this map, I think it will only cause a few minor annoyances (if really any at all).

As for the Map's longer than usual Forging, Lack and I made a decision to let things cool down a bit from the Classic Map Touch-Up. Additionally, shortly we soon will have a way to better broadcast the Foundry to a wider audience outside of the Forum's, and I'd like to include the map in the early beginnings of that. Since REVAMPs are unique, I think there is some liberty to bend.

It still gives a lot of us Irish the needle to be called under the "British Isles" name.

Would just like to point out that I have nothing against Great Britain personally, I lived there for 10 years and enjoyed my time there but would just like my country recognized for what it is and that is a separate state. Thanks.

Politically speaking thats right; but geographically speaking, the British Isles includes all you see in the map. If the Irish want to change that then they have to get a lot of big tugs and pull themselves toward Jamaica. If that ever happens then give me a shout, I want to come too!

This is still going on, eh? IMO, revamp should not change the gameplay (i.e. the changes in attacks from Cumberland) on one of the oldest maps on this site. Can we vote on this or something or did I miss the part where everyone said "oh yaay change the gameplay!"?? You definitely need a public (i.e. not just foundry) opinion poll on that.

Also, the lake in northern ireland stands out too much. Why not make the lake border the line weight of the country borders? Oh and how about naming that blob in the lower right, and making it lighter so it's in the background, not foreground.

The wall looks much less like a wall than the old one did.. how about sticking with the old one? Just change the color to make it fit in with the current color scheme.

Oh, in the upper right corner, how about reducing the legend's size some and squeeze the words over closer to the numbers - it's crowding on the map too much when there's plenty of blue space not being used.

lordhaha is absolutely correct. Up with the Irish, down with the British, and rightly so.
The new map looks very cool. I always liked the old map because it was so neat and clean. Like the Germany and Africa maps, the old British Isles map has been far, far better to view and play a game on than most of the maps on this site.

If you are going to change the wall graphics to make it look better, maybe you could place the middle tower in the center instead of slightly off center, or maybe it already is and my eyes are playing tricks on me.
