Hawai seems way too unconnected, (Can only be attacked from one which can also only be attacked by one!)

Spiesr...

---Not all countries, especially continents on the edge of a map, are going to have more than one access point. Hawaii is a rather mute point. Now if Aquaria was larger, and it only had one route to get in, that would be a different story. And as it is, Aquaria has 2 border routes in..plenty for such a little area.

Folks seemed more or less content with the bridges (aside from the band-aid and visibility issues, which I think I've fixed), but here are some more options:

As you can see, they're generally not so great. The only one of the new four that I like at all is the arrow, since it matches the other arrows, so I could switch to that if people wanted. But otherwise, I'm inclined to just go with the "road slugs".

Also, Andy mentioned another thing to me: I haven't really been consistent over whether it's called "United States of Apocalypse" or just "USApocalypse". Before I formally picked one or the other, I thought I'd check if there was a strong preference on the forum between the two versions of the name.

---Well if you only want to use the arrows or the slugs, use the slugs please! (Though I particularly like the northern most one). This reminds me of the situation in the Middle Earth map, where people disliked the red dot connectors all over the map--I feel the same way about the arrows.

---As for the name, I like the longer one for the 'official' name, but the shorter one works well for discussion and the 'Start a game' page.

Personally, I think you should stick with the United States of Apocalypse..
As for the bridges, I like the arrow.. I think you should use them instead of the "road slugs"..

Road slugs are better and so is the longer name.

Longer name; for bridges, a variant on the Sanders bridge. The road slugs don't make me think of bridges at all.

Unsurprisingly, I suppose, opinions are completely mixed. So it looks like we'll be defaulting to the original version.

I think I've got about the right mix of fake/real names right now: If I tip the balance too much further, we'll start lose some of the advantage of using familiar territory.

The Final Forge period has concluded for the United States of Apocalypse Map. All objections have had their time. The Foundry and I hereby brand this map with the Foundry Brand. Let it be known that this map is now ready for live play (barring any Lack vetoes).

Conquer Club, enjoy!

I wonder how many three player games we are going to have with one player starting with all the radioactive sites and gaining 9 on the first turn... Hehe, I'd like to watch those games

On average, one out of every 243 three-player games will start that way.

But I suspect that about two-thirds of the time, someone will take away at least one of those countries before the lucky player gets to even take one turn.

It's all their on the map. Basically continent bonuses work as per normal maps. Radiation countries have negative effect or bonuses depending on how many you have as per the map.
Positive: Great guy, will always play to his best. Honourable and fun to play with as well. You know you're in for a rough time playing mrdexter :) Game 31384 Haydena
Positive: Mr D is the golden child of CC, if we had to elect a king he'd get my vote! Game 76700 silus

How about what a radiation nexus bonus is?

2006-06-26 22:19:16 - <player> receives -2 armies for holding irradiated territory
2006-06-26 22:19:16 - <player> receives 1 armies for holding a radiation nexus

No mention of a radiation nexus on the map itself or in the legend. This was first turn, so it seems like he just got a free army for no good reason. Might be good to include an explanation of this somewhere.

A radiation nexus is just two or more irradiated countries. The player received -2 armies and +1 army, for a total of -1 armies.
