I haven't liked the highway since the beginning. It really interferes with the clean looks of the map without really contributing anything.

Besides, it's historically inaccurate. In the CSFR (Communist-era Czechoslovakia) everybody travelled by train; the roads were very much secondary to the rail system. Emphasizing the road really ruins the historical feel of the map.

thanks. IĀ“m glad that you like it :)

apart between Benesov and Brno
it only connect town in bordering kraj which already are connected
or it is the only connection to capitals then it should be said so

in Slovak Republic (SR) without highway will be only one way how go from VSK or towns in VSK (Poprad, KoŔice, PreŔov) to the west (SSK). the highway makes another connection to the west.
example without highway: from town KoŔice you can attack towns Poprad and PreŔov and region VSK. but only from VSK you can go to the west - by attacking SSK.
with highway you have two ways - from VSK to SSK or from town Poprad to town Žilina.

and in Czech Republic (CR): highway makes direct connection from town Plzeň to Praha. without highway you must from Plzeň at the first attack ZČK, then StČK and only then Praha.
pamoa wrote:any way your connection system is very unclear
and players without BOB may have big surprise

I think it is clear enough - the coloured region is Kraj, you can attack from any townto another town inside or region inside. from region you can attack any town inside Kraj or adjacent region. but I am open to every help ;) .

look above what highway contributes...

oh, come on DuŔan. CSFR is era more as 3 years after anticommunist revolution, more as 3 years of democracy, more as 3 years of import new cars from "western europe". this was era when cars become more important and also traveling by highway.
Dukasaur wrote:Emphasizing the road really ruins the historical feel of the map.

just look at Wikipedia (for example) and you can see how much of today highway was builded to the year 1989 (or 1993) - most of them, only in the last 10 years was completed some new road spaces...

I didn't understood that regions SSK, VSK, ... were part of the game
in your legend you may add something like
_ _ K kraj are adjacent to each other even across Czech-Slovak border
De gueules Ć  la tour d'argent ouverte, crĆ©nelĆ©e de trois piĆØces, sommĆ©e d'un donjon ajourĆ©, crĆ©nelĆ© de deux piĆØces

This is what I was talking about... (adding kraj army circles/spots) may not be a bad idea to throw mock army numbers in there so we can see the connections.

Yes it will be easier to see with the mock numbers in place I think. Any luck on the graphics upgrades oneyed? And put up a mock with the neutrals where you want them and then just put 3s of random colors on the remaining spots. Troop circle idea is maybe not a bad idea for the kraj's. Just place them right above the kraj name.

I am back with a little updated version.

here are some notices posted time ago:

1, (koontz): Your army circles have flat tops/bottoms and sides. Give them a slight feathering to get them more circular.
- IĀ“ve tried to do them better, but nothing works to me.

2, (koontz): Around the edges where you have overlapping lines, they become darker. Look at the cities again. You can clearly see the darker parts where you have drawn twice in one point. Same goes for a few other places.
- the lines are deleted from towns and also in other places.

3, (RedBaron): First thing to look at I think is the text of the territories overlaping the borders, it blends a tad and the text would do well with either a soft glow or a little erasing of the border beneath the text.
- done. I add Outer Glow there.

4, (RedBaron): A different symbol or 'spot' for the kraj to help differentiate between the cities and the kraj.
- regions have the line above name.

I'm not sure if the line above region or the line above Kraj would better show that Kraj has a line over it.

Maybe put it over kraj and also do it over the kraj in the bottom right corner.

kraj and region is not the same. region is territory on the map (as town), but kraj is name for bonus. kraj is made by region and towns inside region. therefore only towns and regions need symbol.

Why does the text need reducing?

2 small things.
Bottom right, the line you have going around the map is missing there. Needs to go on.
Add the Y to Hungary.

I need a little more space here. one row less would be great.

Well, the text needs to be the same for both corners. So why not reduce the size of font by 1 or 2 pixels. That should give you the space you need.

Subdue the background to where it is just barely visible. This will help bring the map out more since that is where the focus should be. Instead of having the region box on top off the region name, place the region name inside of the box. Right now someone may think that there is supposed to be troop numbers inside of them.

That's all I have for now, you have done a good job an this so far Oneyed, so keep up the good work!

but in the boxes will be numbers. so why anybody may find numbers anywhere else?

I think what he means is make the gameboard the central focus, make it sharp and stand out, and then make the background softer or not quite as strong visually as the gameboard is.

For instance, notice how England's background is not visually as strong on and not on the same intensity level as the gameboard itself? I think he means something like that.

you mean to make rivers, railway, roads around Czechoslovakia less visible. not problem, but my question is which grunge paper use for background...
