Thanks Cairnswk... I truly could not have done this without your help.

In fact, several people really contributed to this map being quenched, and I feel they deserve some recognition...

Suzy1 - Coleman - Andy - Qwert - Mibi - Aerial Attack - Reverend Kyle - Edbeard - Oaktown - Gimil - Yamahafazer - Yeti_c - Soundout9 - Gnome - AndrewB - Widowmakers - Fuzzy Pengui - Unit2 - and everyone who posted constructive comments in this thread over the past few months. -Thank you!

congrats on being quenched
Don't now why people on here don't like being cooks, remember under siege: A former SEAL, now cook, is the only person who can stop a gang of terrorists when they sieze control of a US Navy battleship.

Great map... I had a real North-South battle on it... the North (me) won out, of course. :)

I left those 2 states out for gameplay reasons, (continent bonuses, etc.)

Thanks! I was hoping that the board structure would add up to N vs S gameplay...

So far, in my games anyway, I've seen it happen some too.
I've yet to try triples or quads in it, but think that should be interesting.

5000th Game!

Postby Elijah S on Mon Feb 25, 2008 11:42 pm

I'd like to invite anyone who would like to join the 5000th game of my American Civil War map! Game#1901128
This is a real milestone and I'm thrilled that in just under 2 months the map has generated a reasonably large number of games!

I's also like to again thank those who gave input and helped me along the path from Map Ideas to Final Forge. The talent here in the Map Foundry is awesome and it's great to see so many ideas in production!

Thanks! - Elijah

Congratulations once again Elijah on another milestone. Your map is truly everything you promised it to be. It is one of the more popular maps here. It shows by you already having 5000 games in play. I love this map. it has become my favorite. See ya back here on game 10,000! :D

Map bug?

See game: http://www.conquerclub.com/game.php?game=2860887

Still 2 players left. Player A owns the entire map, but Player B hasn't been eliminated and can't place his armies anywhere.

How do you see that number ?
Is there some sort of statistics page for all maps ? To be viewed by all players? or only the mapmakers ?

different statistics like that, and others, would be good to see listed somewhere ... i don't know whether there are or not, but i'd like to know if there were too.

in any case it_oddball, you can find out how many games have been played on a map by going to gamefinder, selecting a map, say WW2Gazala, selecting no other search fields, and hitting search.
this will display all the games, active, waiting for players and finished for that map ... refine these last criteria to find how many finished games etc.

Game finder will do it for you:
http://www.conquerclub.com/player.php?mode=find

but if i remember correctly there is a map frequency thread.

That was an old post... The map's moving closer to 15,000 plays now, which it should hit in about a month.
But in answering your question, Cairns has a thread in GD regarding Map Movement. It's how I keep up with how maps are doing.

Reverse Dakota's and badlands

Postby istanbul39 on Thu Mar 05, 2009 4:02 pm

Shouldn't the Bad lands and dakota terretory be reversed? They BL's are clearly in SD, not ND.

(from Wikipedia)
"Some of the best-known badland formations can be found in the United States and Canada. In the U.S., Makoshika State Park in Montana, Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota and Badlands National Park in South Dakota together form a series of extensive badlands formations."

This was discussed during the development of the map. Originally, I had the two reversed but after someone suggested it I looked into it.
The term "Badlands" refers to the geography which, as the above quote indicates, stretch for an area that includes several states and up into Canada.
True, Badlands National Park is located in South Dakota, but the geographic area is not limited to there.
