Re: Iceland (April-15 Update 1st Post / Pg.11)

Btw, I'm no gameplay expert, but should Southern maybe have a bigger bonus/fewer territories?
4 territories to hold, 7 all in all, borders Reykjavik which is likely to be held early on in the game, as well as Eastern which is only 2 territories to defend and gives a +4 bonus and borders Northern which will take a while to be secured by one player.
Sorry if this has already been discussed.

I'm no gameplay expert either (hence my rank). I am up for changing bonus amounts. It was discussed early on with oaktown, but I think it fizzled out.

Does anyone else think that the Southern region should move up to a +5 bonus?

Bonuses as I think they should be:

Eastern: +3
Southern: +5
Northern: +5
West Fjords: +3
Western: +4
Rejkjavik: +3

Agreed - possibly Rejkjavik could be +4 but otherwise spot on...

Eastern & WFjords have 2 borders - so +3 is better... the others have more...

N & S - have same borders - N has 1 more territory - so +5 is fair for both.

In a 2 player game I can see it being a battle between N & S - and each player trying to hold the interleaving continents... good stuff.

I started work on the small map, but got sidetracked. I haven't given up though.

Implemented already.

And without the stroke, it gets lost - and I think the stroke doesn't have a negative impact on the look of the map.

There are a few army circles hanging off their territory when there's room to have them on all the way - Dangsnes, Olafsvik, Budardalur, Skeidararsandur, and Keflavik.

Other than that, this map is really looking good.

Originally I tried to position the army circles where the actual towns were. My new revision (not posted yet) has some circles moved around.

Hmm would you consider using the Icelandic name for Iceland for the title? I think it's Island with an accent somewhere. The Icelandic guy who was making the other map used that.

Naa... I would prefer to keep it Iceland. Very few people would understand "Island" is the icelandic word for Iceland. that guy who started the previous iceland map was from iceland - so it made sense to him.

I'm not happy with this - but thought I would post anyway. It's too busy. The land features don't work well in the small map.

I think the large version looks slightly better than the small. Some of the details are harder to see on the small, I guess. Oh well, I always play the large anyway :D

very few people?
Billions of people call it Island/Islande/Islandia.. perhaps 700 million in the Americas alone.. probably another 6-700 million europeans prefer Is- instead of Ice-

sorry for spamming.. in the official CC language it´s iceland of course - just thought your comment was a funny example of slight anglocentrism in this "enlightened and global" world of ours. It also gave me the opportunity to congratulate you for the prettiest muthafu#£ing map in the foundry! =D>

I'd say the only issue on the small map is that the text is harder to read. Perhaps make it a bit large and more defined for the small?

Haha. Priceless response. :) Of course it depends on the language used for the map.

I think the map maker should decide what he wants to call it so let's stick with Iceland.
