i would like to see more feedback on the draw button, could not recall any suggestion was make before on this
you could scape the idea of "concede" button aka surrender button, it have been suggested and reject multi time

i would have thought a concede button would have a better chance of getting through than a lets call it quits and make this game disappear button.

for the record, i don't like either.

Don't play much speed games but the 72 hour wait in casual games have at times produced new deadbeats and then it starts to get really tedious. :D

TheTrust wrote:To have an instant deadbeat button or surrender button or whatever you boys would like to call it would simply ruin the gaming experience for all gamers who join as a whole. Sure there are the occasional players who will only surrender when absolutely hopeless situations arise but for the most part this will be abused by players looking to get lucky drops.

Auto-losing games because of a unperfect drop??? Anyone that concerned about the drops will be waay to fond of his/hers ranking to surrender that much tbf.

A good idea... If it were to be refined... I believe it would be incredibly useful and generally accepted... It might put a bit more stress/responsibility on those responsible for investigating potential multis... On the other hand... It also has the potential to smoke out some of the "unknown" multis...

Jamie wrote:...he whole reason that the surrender button was scrapped was because it cheated people out of getting your points, and cards. If surrendering simply causes all your turns to be skipped, this will speed up games, and reduce suiciding. Your cards and points could still be had.

I've got to agree with Jamie; this would reduce the problem of deadbeats taking 72 hours per instance out of our games due to missing 3 consecutive 24-hour turns in a row. With the option to surrender immediately, they're happy, and the remaining players are also happy because their games don't drag on and on and on.

It would, as Jamie said, also reduce the instances of poor-playing losers from taking out 2/3 of your armies on their way out, by suiciding into you.

This is the new millennium; I'm sure that technology exists where a safeguard could be put on such a button, like a window that asks if you're sure you want to continue the operation (CC already employs this safeguard on several other buttons), and so the idea of hitting surrender "accidentally" is a non-issue.

Re: Skip Turn*Pending*

Postby IrlAndy on Sat Apr 26, 2008 2:55 am

I think a button for skipping turns is bad, as it's a nasty tactic that just annoys everyone and can ruin games.

However, I think an "away" option on your account is a good idea.

I have occasionally had to leave games that take longer to play than expected either through business trips or I just have a weekend away and can't get to a computer. I don't want to wreck everyone else's game while I'm gone, but there's not much I can do other than to leave myself open to attack and let people know I'm gone.

I figure it would work like this:
- When you know you are going to be away for a period of time, you can set an option on your account, specifying how long you're away for.
- The game will auto-skip you until this time period elapses.
- Optionally, you could be not allowed to play in any games in the time period you've specified.
- Optionally, the game could show an icon / message beside the person's name to list them as away
- The option is at account level, so it can't be used to target specific games.
- If the option is over-used by any particular player, this should alert someone for action / attention - either admins or just show up on the person's account.

surrender/give up button

Postby topper on Tue Apr 29, 2008 2:12 pm

Sometimes you know your doomed and you just want it to be over , mostly in 1 v 1 matches .
I think a suicide button would come in handy at these times .

Wolf, do you know why? I would think that if someone has an insurmountable lead it would be a better option than having to take a turn an waiting for them to smash your remaining troops.

On the concede/surrender issue you could take a look here -> A quite easily found thread dealing with the issue.

Do think that the "offer" part makes it a better idea but not sure anyway.

Surrender Option

Postby se3lad on Sun May 11, 2008 5:21 am

Is it possible to build in a button so that when you know a game is irretrievably lost you can simply surrender rather than have to kill time waiting for the inevitable?

This would be particularly useful in the speed game format I think.

What do other people think?

I agree.I'm not the type of player who will deabeat no matter how bad my situation is.I'll suffer till the end.the the surrender option would keep alot of people from deabeating and speed up the games(and put an end to my suffering)

Denied because of the potential for abuse if I remember correctly.

suggestion:Resign Button

Postby WOTE on Sun May 11, 2008 7:11 am

A resign Button would be a good idea have in the game.

But you mite have to have a max/min number of armies that you can resign with... Say no more than 10 armies and no more than 3 territories or one army on each territory but less than six.

This has been suggested in the past, a simple forum search would have sufficed rather than wasting moderator time.

It was actually removed because of abuse. Not just the potential.

Indeed a surrender button is particularly useful to those who prefer to cheat.

Not to mention that it would take a lot of the fun out of winning, if people could just surrender as soon as it looked like they were going to die.

Removed? That must have been really early, because I joined when this site was a measly 4 months old, and I don't recall seeing a surrender button even then.
