People are tired of people like you complaining about people who complain and calling them "whiners". I suggest you quit your whining about about posts you think are whiny and stop all your complaining about valid complaints. Your complaining about whining really comes across as whining about complaining.

Simon Viavant wrote:
"It sounds like you want them to justify the rejection."

Bingo! A simple justification that is not buried 200 posts into a thread that, on the very first post, in huge red letters, says something like: "go ahead and post what you want, we are not going to change our minds".

Simon Viavant wrote:

You don't even have a paid membership! There is something hilarious about a guy who uses this site without having paid telling a paid member to leave. What this place needs is a lot more people like our friend Simon. Freeloaders who have nothing better to do than to troll the forum looking for opportunities to ask paid members to leave. Complainers who contribute nothing and do their best to shoot down other people's attempts to improve the site.

I have a suggestion for you: Stop embarrassing yourself. You have no verbal Kung Fu. My armies are amassed at your boarders and your dice are weak. Just hit the surrender button.

I found the post that explains the issue with surrender. It goes something like this:

It enables someone to create a second account and quickly loose hundreds of games thereby transferring many points to the first account.

The problem here is not with the surrender button; It's with points manipulators. Here is a simple suggestion: Do not allow more than, say, one surrender per day between the same two players.

In fact, it seems to me that tracking big point swings between two players would be a great way to reduce the whole manipulation problem too.

Here are my other thoughts on the subject:

1) This is only for 2-player games (or when multi-player games have gotten down to two players). (The list of potential problems with more than two players is long and valid).

2) Do not allow more than one surrender per day between the same two players.

3) Have a pop-up confirmation box to eliminate accidental surrenders.

4) Make it for premium players only if you want to give free players an incentive to upgrade.

5) There are some folks who actually like to do the end-of-game tidying up. Maybe there is a way to let them continue to kill even after the game has been forfeited and the outcome (and the points distribution) have already been decided. (This is not a high priority for me but it may be for others).

If this makes even the tiniest bit of sense, why not move this post to a new "surrender" thread? It may result in a set of suggestions that actually do solve the problems that the moderators are concerned about and we may end up with a better game.

Nah... I discussed it a while ago, at length, with cic. At this point, I figure it's better worth waiting. Thanks much for offering, though!

how about an "I give up" button?

Postby black elk speaks on Fri Oct 24, 2008 7:48 am

There is nothing more frustrating than being trapped in a game that you know you are going to lose, but your opponent just won't kill you.

Note that the thread has been marked *rejected* and is unlikely to change its status for the reason given in the first post. Any further discussion should nonetheless be in that thread.

This duplicate thread will likely be locked.

So, these all are the exact same suggestion, right? And if not, they've been discussed on their own terms before rejection, right? Or are they being lumped in with a similar suggestion, thereby being rejected without consideration? Surely not.

This is stupid....if i get interrupted in the middle of a speed game I have to deadbeat rather than just quit. If cards are abused, than just make people's territories nuetral and whoever eliminates all the neutrals get the cards...pretty simple.

One person's idea of a surrender was discussed at length, then rejected because it had problems. Now, obviously, nothing ever resembling a surrender button in the slightest, will ever be free from these problems. Your mistake is in assuming that the basic laws of logic apply in the Suggs and Bugs forum.

In such a situation I'd really want it to effect your deadbeat ratio as I want to know if I should expect you play games out or not.

people are saying multis are gonna make a million games and surrender on purpose to give themselves points, but honestly it makes it much easier to catch multis. It will acutally HELP catch mutlis. Honestly my suggestion before should be considered.

surrendering would work like dead beating in a tournament game. People can still get your cards when they kill you. The only diffference it that it skips your turn. That way there is no abuse, and multis can't get caught more easily. What's the problem.

I'm sure, if this were not a banned topic, we would be able to find a way to get around the multi abuse problem. And by "banned," I mean that we lump all similar suggestions into a *rejected* thread, thereby stifling discussion and negating any motivation to innovate.

Re: Forfeit a game

Postby General Brewsie on Sun Oct 26, 2008 4:23 am

Strangely, no one has mentioned that the preferred remedy for not being able to finish a game is to find a person you can trust to sub for you. You give him your password and when you came back to the games you change your password. It is understood that you have no recourse if your sub loses or does something you would not have done, but your worst loss possible is no worse than forfeiting. Your sub has the ethical responsibility of announcing in the Game Chat that he is subbing for you.

DING DING!

I've subbed and been subbed for several times when vacations or personal matters dictate. Even if a forfeit/quit button were available I would never use it.

Strangely, no one has mentioned that this thread is 4 months old. Besides the fact that the idea is as old as this website. If you want to suggest people find subs, it would be more helpful to say so in one of the more current threads.

The other argument i've heard is this.

jennifermarie wrote:Hello,

forfeiting games will not be made possible because of the possibility of abuse by multis. Also, it is a way around the 4 games allowed by freemies

Well how about a game that is surrendered still takes up one of the freemiums slot. Until someone wins the game he forfeited in it will still take up a slot. This doesn't count when you are eliminated without surrendering. There is another way around that problem. I still have yet to see a decent argument...

The surrender button should be available in two-player games. And the ONLY time it should be. Agree?

resign button

Postby bw66 on Wed Dec 03, 2008 10:13 am

there should be a resign button similar to chess for players that need leave games esp speed games that drag on and on , its better than deadbeating and making evrybody wait 3 turn until you get kicked :)
