Minimum player points games

Postby delboy01 on Mon Jun 09, 2008 9:32 am

Concise description:
Would it be possible to change the start new game criteria to add an option so that only players with a specified minimum points score could join the games? If the option were not exercised the game would be open to all.

I no longer start games as i'm feedup with newbies joining and not playing or the games being filled with privates.

In this way no players below a certain rank could enter these games.

Specifics:
Change start game option to add minimum player score setting.

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
More public games will be started within user bands.
    Fairer points win/loss ratio.

This has been suggested numerous times, and rejected because it is unfair to the lower ranks. If you want to play a game with people who are only your rank, try making a private game.

why not have a play section for premium members only?

Postby mccallan25 on Tue Jun 10, 2008 12:21 pm

Since most of the cheaters play for free why not have a section for premium members only? Over and over I am finding myself in very questionable games with people that are not blocked yet since they have played one or two games but yet have the ability to always go in the same order within seconds most of the time from their other account. Doing the math, they should buy a Powerball ticket since they already have overcome it's odds.

This will improve the following aspects of the site: Most cheaters (multi's) are non premium members and therefore we can avoid them a bit more since they would not be allowed into the paid membership areas.

Limiting Experience level of players in a new game.

Postby badlouie on Thu Jun 19, 2008 7:13 pm

I wish there was a way to start a new game with a limit to the experience of the particpants. For example, a minimum experience level 0f 1600.

I'm not a snob and i DO join games with lower ranks, but I'm fed up with joining a game w/ a few solid players and having the rest filled out by fresh recruits who are either 1)clueless, 2)very very bad or 3)never even take a turn.

This particular game has be incensed: 2621513

I'm so desperate to play games with ONLY solid players.

I apologize in advance if this is covered somewhere else in the forum. I did look, but I'm not sure how it might be worded.

As a premium, you can make private games.
PM the game number and password to people with high scores.
Problem solved.

Many of us here at CC have at one time or another, came across the problem of noobs and unreliable players. I found a solution to this dilemma by joining a clan. Also doing a quick search on the people who are in the game you are about to join , can help.
There are many more reliable players on CC , then there are unreliable.
I recommend that if you are a premium , start using the pw privileges, get to know people in the chat rooms, as well as joining a clan.
Best of luck, and may the dice gods smile on you.

I agree with the first post and don't think that setting up private games and joining a clan is the right solution. I'd like to be able to start a game that the wide community of players over a certain rank could see and join. I don't want to have to PM a million people or join some group. This seems like something that would be an easy add on to the game.

Not a bad idea...

In the meantime you could go to Forum  Callouts
viewtopic.php?f=31&t=11593 for 2000+ captain games
viewtopic.php?f=31&t=47572 for 1600+ games
viewtopic.php?f=31&t=29933 for 1800+ games

there are always games on offer with players of your rank

I don't get responses like this. I mean it's not like I'm saying "boo hoo the dice are against me". I'm suggesting something that more than a few people would enjoy and is more than reasonable I think.

1. This idea has been presented again and again and again. Maybe not quite as much as "change the dice", but close.

2. If available, it would be harder for new people to find games and this would reduce the chances of them becoming real members.

3. Everyone began, everyone played with people who were tolerant ... and improved to become good players eventually.

4. An option exists ... to play private games. Public games are just that ... public.

5. for more on this issue, do a search and check out any of the many threads created already. Some have to do more with rank, some with time, etc.... but you will get the full and complete debates there.

Score restricted games

Postby YouStoleMyCookie on Tue Jun 24, 2008 5:12 am

Sorry if this has allready been suggested

It would be great if when you make a game you can put a restriction on someones score/rank of who could join.

An example is only allowing people with scores 1200 above or 2000 and below ect... The score restriction would be completly up to the game makers descression.

This will help higher ranks not losing to lower ranks who throw a game just to get rid of a high rank player and allow low ranked players not have to play 2000 score + players and having no chance in a 1 on 1

Yes i know yu can make private games but this would be more convienient than mailing people to join a specific game.

Yes scores change suring the game and someone may rise from 1000 to 2000 during some big games that last weeks but make the restriction to the point at which the game is started to get rid of that glitch.

It's a win win situation and you can always put no score restriction on games if you want. It's just an extra option for the person who makes the game

Hope it gets implemnted because alot of people will benifit if it does. It is open ended so even if it's implemented it wont affect anyone because you have a choice to use it or not.

Cheers, CookieMonster

it wont affect anyone and only be an convienience advantage to people that want to use it instead of spending hours to make these games it would take 1 second and wait for people to join. people make them anyway, why not make it easier.

Suggestion: Setting criteria to be able to join games

Postby Selin on Sun Jun 29, 2008 4:09 pm

I don't know , if this was suggested before:

During creating new games (open games without password) it would have been very helpful to be able to set two criteria for potential players wanting to join.

1) score
2) rating

The idea behind this is being able to create open games for qualified players without posting or pming passwords etc. In the "Start a game" menu those two fields can be added. The player creating the game may choose to select a certain level of players, e.g. 1800 points or 4.6 rating or a combination of them. Only players matching those criteria may join the created game afterwards. By this way nobody would have needed special threads like Colonels games etc. to post or find a certain level of games. You may also avoid that lower rated players (with bad attendance/fair play/attidude history) join your games.

If already suggested, please neglect this. If not it's open now for discussion.

Yea it was, several times actually.

It has also been rejected every time. The only such limit lack seed to consider is one based on rating difference but that doesn't seem likely either with the way the rating system is being used.

Minimum rank to join games option

Postby Dangerous-Die on Tue Jul 01, 2008 2:21 pm

Concise description:
  • Give an option when starting games to only allow a certain rank - higher or lower to join your game.

Specifics:
  • as above

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
1) - more high rankers will stay playing CC as the ability to still play multiple games without risk of serious point lose.
2) - more games will be played.
3) - people with points to 'protect' can still play relaxed games.

i doubt that it will be accepted cause the Admins of this site do wish to keep the new players also. Unless make it a easyer way for for the low rankers to join "None Requiermented Rank games" this idea will be scrapped.

I think i seen it been rejected before also...

Re: Minimum rank to join games option

Postby gdeangel on Tue Jul 01, 2008 3:08 pm

This idea was rejected, as well as my "stop loss" idea where you could check the box and limit to players who have a score that is less than, say, 1/2 your score.

They rejected that too... so ultimately that makes it tough to every progress up the ranks, and makes you very risk averse when you get to the top of the ranks.
My ever constant two last games seem to have no end in sight!
