[UI] Automatic Territory Selection

Postby Barns on Wed Jul 18, 2012 9:29 am

Would it be possible to add an option to not have the game automatically select where it thinks I want to deploy my troops? I often think "I'll put one there, two there..." etc so I obviously click on the territory where I plan to deploy. However, I often find the game has already automatically selected that territory so when I click it deploys all my remaining troops on that terrritory...which is often not what I planned...lol

I realise this is my fault for not paying closer attention to each one-army, two-army deployment etc but would it be possible for the game to not automatically select a territory when deploying?

Happens sometimes. I call it the famous A01 misdeploy in hive, lol. Move your idea to the suggestions to have some reasonable discussion.

I would just be more careful... The drop down box pulls information from the XML based on the territories that you have. I don't really see a solution for this other than to not have a drop down and I think that's a bad idea. Maybe someone else sees a better solution.

What if the first entry in the dropdown menu said "Select Territ"?

Or if it remained blank, like is done in the tournament drop down menu on game finder. I just don't know if that's possible.

I would very much like to resurrect this item.

I recently re-activated my CC account after a 12-13 year break, and it was really interesting to see that all the mods I used to use are all integrated into the site now (overall - AWESOME). However, it seems to me that this is a major issue with the clickable maps.

Is there a way that the drop down menu can default to a blank option for both ALL phases of the game? That way clicks would have a consistent effect every time rather than being dependent on whatever random selection has been made in the drop-down menus. This auto-selection has been consistently messing me up on deployments, assaults, and reinforcements because realistically clicks during all those phases USUALLY mean one thing, but randomly mean something totally different if the territory you're trying to select happens to have been selected for you by the drop down menu. Yes, if you slow down and study the map before every click you can theoretically avoid this, but I, for one, appear to be too dense for that to work reliably.

Maybe there's a browser modification available for this already? If not, I'd like to suggest it get some consideration again, as it doesn't appear to have gotten much traction when it was flagged back in 2012.
