Indeed, I think it is a given that those should stay. The idea of an Association would be to compliment their existence.

I am sure there have been many. How could any one not want to help you, after all you are a sweetie and, as you know, my favourite.

However. The Association or whatever it was called would need some thought and discussion. This may tail off and wither on the vine so to speak, we will not know until we see what comes of things.

I honestly like the idea but doubt it will be implemented for this is a business.

Also who would moderate? Would Congress?

We're humans, we're obviously only going to end up arguing and calling the council/congress unfair and deem them all as scum who abuse their powers. Also, why would the people do such a task? Would they be volunteers or would they be "paid" for their efforts? Also, corruption would be a huge issue, obviously there will be sides and those sides will always vote for whatever benefits them and no one else. Do you think people will take up this kind of work out of the kindness of their hearts? The congress will just be corrupt, bias, and ultimately hated and useless.

i never had problems with mods and i don't know why you people always complain about them

PLAY RISK !! that's what this site is all about, if you don't like to play then don't log in

You go play risk! Let us do what we like doing, and you do what you like doing. If you just want to play risk then just play risk.

I vote that we have this "council" or "association" or whatever and we vote on the leaders once every 3 months. So instead of each "clan" or "group of people" voting for their leader I say we all just vote for 12 people. If we can only think of 3 people then we vote for 3 people. The 12 top people are made "council members" or whatever.

Perhaps we can just have a PTA except with concerned members where they can voice their opinion against the mods/admins decision.

Sorry if I missed something, only read a page and a half.

The present set up does not allow, in general, for the incremental negotiation between the consumers (you, myself and all other members) and the supplier, Lack.

I am of the opinion that's completely intentional on Lack's part. After all, we used to be able to PM him directly...and no longer can. I'm pretty sure that wasn't done without his consent. It seems to me that he doesn't desire that interaction.

Actually, the reason that lackattack now doesn't accept private messages from the general membership is because he was spending much of his work day answering them, catching up on them, and so forth. By restricting that access he has been able to dedicate far more time to the coding and programming necessary to improve the website, as well as other things that are required of him as the site owner and webmaster. It has nothing to do with incremental negotiation, a desire to ignore, or anything else. He simply wanted to focus on what he wanted to focus on, coding.

Ah, that's good too hear. Thanks, OP. Carry on then.

The biggest problem I see with the idea is the voting idea. I would say that representing the site in "The Senate Format" (one vote per constituency) wouldn't make much sense, since some constituencies are considerably larger than others. By the same token, using "The House Format" doesn't work well either, because then the majority can bully. How do we resolve these two problems? Moreover, how do we determine what the constituencies are?

Now hold up OP. I'm not a rebellious forumer, and I don't think I will become one. But to ridicule the people that may find the decisions made by mods to be unfair is wrong.

Nobody is saying that the mods are idiots. But looking at the uproar at this moment, you can't say that your choices have been perfect.

every choice they have ever made has had people that didnt like it. even the stuff you would think that everybody liked. the reason this one seems like there is more of an uproar is merely because the people it has angered are significantly more vocal than the average user.

the reason that a congress wouldnt work, is because it would be impossible to get the large ammount of non-forum goers to participate.. and optimus is correct in saying that no matter how it would be done, someone would be angry about it. someone would feel ignored, someone would object, the congress would inevitably make decisions that most of the community wouldnt like from time to time, and then we would be in the same situation as now.

the way it works now could be thought of as a congress, except that lack has chosen our congressmen, he has chosen from tourney organizers, high ranked users, low ranked users, a lil bit of outside help, clan leaders, live chat regulars, and genuinely respectable members of the community. i personally wouldnt trust the whole of cc to be able to select good leaders anymore than i trust my local reallife community to select good leaders.. no matter what your opinion you must agree that there are almost always just as many idiots as there are non-idiots.

Clearly you haven't been paying attention to the forum lately. The so-called community has basically been calling for all of our heads so-to-speak, repeating over and over about our abusive, controlling, dictator inspired ways. For you to say that nobody is calling us idiots is rather naive in my opinion.

I'm saying, in this thread. Sorry for the mix-up. It just seemed like your earlier post was hostile toward us, when we are trying to help.

the Id is not bad, but I rather see a group with the mods, admin and lack. Add (by voting by cc players) +/- 8 members and you'll have a nice discussion group

Ad-hochs, such as this, occur from time to time, based on need as assessed by the Operations Manager (optimus prime). If you have an idea for an ad-hoch, it is best to get in touch with the OM.

Well said. One thing that could be added is that some moderators were nominated by the community.
