Yet another example of how the ratings are utterly meaningless.
If I were to look at the ratings you gave, I would have absolutely no way of knowing this is what you do ... Further, in this specific case, you are definitely going well outside the system to employ your own special ideas. Skill was
specifically not included in this system. You can agree or disagree, but changing the rating system to your own criteria just blurrs it even more.
I would suggest putting skill kudos on someone's wall instead, unless and until the system is changed to accomodate skill.
I had a cook hat because I played my favourite maps on standard. The skill was there nearly 50% of the time I eliminated the most players. So instead I switched to terminator. Doubling my score in 2 weeks. Skill is not about the icon next to your name. It is about the idea behind the strategy not the win or loss.
It is an AVERAGE of all the games played, not specific to any game. BUT, neither would a separate skill rating be separate. A skill rating might theoretically separate out luck from skill, but the problem is that folks don't really and truly understand skill and THAT is why so many folks get mad at the "dice", blame other's poor moves for their losses, etc. Rating will just make it that much worse. When I looked at the old feedback and saw someone who talked of skill ... other that a broad "kudos" or a very specific criticism after
several games .. I almost always saw someone with a LOT of negs ... and for good reason. They were judging other people's play instead of criticizing their own play.
Yes, there are variations on play that one can use to one's advantage. BUT, skill does reflect the overall win percentage and, in the LONG haul, skill, not luck really and truly do decide who wins and loses.
Work on your OWN skill and forget about trying to rate other folks ... you will go much further. Frankly, that holds true in life as well as CC!
