cards view

Postby odino on Thu Jan 18, 2007 4:49 am

why do not show how many cards ppl have?
we can do that easily just scrolling up or down the game log but..maybe adding a (2)..(3)...(4)...could be the easier way..not bad idea imho :D

Show Enemy Card Count

Postby JupitersKing on Sat Jan 20, 2007 4:16 pm

Show Enemy Card Count

What I would really like is a place on the game screen, either next to the player Information or around the 'My Cards' area that would show how many cards each of my opponents has.

This would really help overall strategy in the game. If I'm holding 4 cards with a mixed set and none of the other players has more than 1 or 2 cards then it would let me know this is a good round to simply fortify my borders without attacking and taking another card, forcing me to turn in next turn and possibly loosing some advantage in having a big set and waiting until after everyone else has turned in...

This would be advantagous in both Flat and Escalating Card games.

Card Display

Postby Dr. Jim on Mon Jan 29, 2007 10:31 am

While playing RISK, it's obvious that one cannot know what cards the other players have. It is; however, required that the player keep those cards face down and visible.
I suggest that a number be added somewhere on the board, below it, or by the name of a player, indicating how many cards that player currently has.

Along side this a counter for games in which the value of cards escalates would help in knowing how many each set would be worth.

Check out the greasemonkey script that one of our users created. It counts cards and much more:

Nifty. Do they have a version that can be used on a better browser than firefox? Like IE?

No IE doesn't have the ability to use add-ons like Firefox. Of course it's all a matter of preference but I like Firefox much better than IE it's much more customizable.

lol. Firefox is the superior browser- the fact that add-ons like this exist prove it!

Of course as moz said, its all a matter of personal preference, but once some people showed me the features of firefox a few years ago I became a firm believer and have never looked back. (since than IE has tried to incorporate many of the features that Firefox already had, but I still prefer FF).

IE is much slower than FF and has more errors
example for an error:
i use a mac computer and when i make a picture with photoshop with a transparant background IE does show a light blue background,

i am using Safari because its a bit quicker on the mac than FF is, Safari has a few tiny errors that FF doesn't but for that i use FF :P

yuo can not use safari on a windows

I'm not 100% sure - but as MS made IE7 more like FF - I suspect that IE7 can use similar things to Add-ons? - probably need to be coded in a completely different way though!!!!

Those problems aren't from IE, they're from you using a Mac.

Display # of Cards

Postby Aspect on Mon Feb 19, 2007 2:42 pm

I just got my territories run over because I didn't want to count the number of cards my enemy had to see if I should fortify.
Its just a small thing, but it would really save some time.

If you use firefox then this add on

http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6672

Will do that for you. If you don't use firefox then you need to grab it - lots of nice add ons for firefox with CC. See General discussion stickied topic.
