Welcome to the first issue of the Foundry Newsletter! We've worked hard to bring together a newsletter that will show all the various aspects of the Foundry, and put them in a format that we believe will be enjoyable for anyone on this site to read. Since this is the first issue, I'd like to acquaint everyone with the four sections. First we have the Maps in Development. This is a quick look at every map that's moving through the Foundry right now, in its various stages. Links are provided so you can find the topic for any maps that interest you. Second is an Editorial, featuring a well-regarded member of the Foundry, and their thoughts on things. Third is the Spotlight, where we feature a map and its mapmaker using an interview format. Finally is the Community Perspective, where we ask you, the readers, what you think of the Foundry. Now that you're familiar with what's where, I will let you peruse this first issue at your leisure. Hope you enjoy it!

Maps in Development

Advanced Ideas

Name: Allegheny Forest, PA, USA
Creator: seamusk
Stamps: [Advanced Idea]

Description: This map has been a bolt from the blue. It's a complex map with lots of rules and bonuses, but all the rules fit with the way the map has been structured. Gameplay will likely be very varied when this map gets further along.

Present Development: The creator is extremely enthusiastic about making the map better, and accepts input.

Name: Castle Battle
Creators: Marvaddin and Telvannia
Stamps: [Advanced Idea]

Description: Terrifically good 3D graphics meshed with the medieval theme and gameplay of an army assaulting a castle. That is the premise of the well-started Castle Battle. Both gameplay and graphics on this one are complex and varied, a tour-de-force already at such an early stage.

Present Development: Gameplay is very malleable right now, and the graphics are changing to reflect gameplay changes in tandem. Input is being accepted and turned into new images fast.

Name: Los Angeles
Creator: Oaktown
Stamps: [Advanced Idea]

Description: The City of Angels, famous for its sprawling hills and gridlock traffic. Both are present in this simply-designed map showcasing freeways, major areas, and of course, landmarks. Regions are large, offset by the bonus aspect freeways give, meaning this map should be great on all settings.

Present Development: The actual bonus freeways should get is up for debate, and landmarks are being added onto the map each time there's an update.

Main Foundry

Name: Archipelago
Creators: ZeakCytho and Mjinga
Stamps: Image

Description: A small chain of islands is at war! This fictional archipelago is fought over by the players in a simple classic-style map. The sharp graphics go hand in hard with the lack of gameplay gimmicks that is the driving impetus behind this map.

Present Development: The map is making progress, awaiting further comments on gameplay and graphics. Updates are rather slow currently due to a lack of comments.

Name: CC Archery
Creators: Kaplowitz and gimil
Stamps:ImageImageImage

Description: CC Archery is a map that mimics players shooting at targets, and one disgustingly cute rabbit. Bonuses are easy to get, making gameplay fun in the early game. The graphics are heavily tongue-in-cheek, which serves as a boon for this map.

Present Development: After ironing out issues, CC Archery quickly got both the Gameplay and Graphics stamps. It's expected to hit the Final Forge soon.

Name: Charleston, SC
Creator: RjBeals
Stamps: Image

Description: Charleston, famous for its role in the American Civil War, the American Revolutionary War, and...Conquer Club maps? In this take on America's second largest Atlantic seaport, Rj has created a straightforward large map with simple but attractive graphics.

Present Development: New colors and other flairs have brought new life into the map. Feedback is greatly encouraged by the mapmaker.

Name: The Citadel
Creator: TaCktiX
Stamps: Image

Description: What better place to have a military takeover than at a military college's campus? That is the premise of The Citadel. Based directly off of the campus and its buildings, this medium-sized map goes for fairly straightforward gameplay, with a couple of quirks.

Present Development: This map seems to be nearing stamps, pending an update from the mapmaker.

Name: Conquer 4
Creators: gimil, KEYOGI, and yeti_c
Stamps: Image

Description: In some ways, Conquer 4 is a simple map: all bonuses are determined by only two rules. But every territory can attack 8 ways and bonuses are where you make them. This map will certainly be crazy to play, with bonuses coming and going simply by conquering one territory.

Present Development: The creators are presently working through explaining the two rules in ways
that nobody can misunderstand. Readability input has been encouraged.

Name: Cyprus
Creator: Ruben Cassar
Stamps: Image

Description: Cyprus is a hotly contested country, with a Berlin Wall-style line splitting two disparate populations. So what better place to make a map all about conquering? The creator has created a map that not only incorporates the Green Line UN peace zone, but turns it into an interesting gameplay device. The simple, clean graphics only add to the attraction of the map.

Present Development: The colors of the continents have been in debate, with the present color scheme thought of as being too cold.

Name: Dark Age Britain
Creators: Balsiefen and Telvannia
Stamps: Image

Description: It's a new take on Albion, this time aged back to the Dark Ages when castles ruled over everything and sea travel was treacherous. This well-rendered map offers plenty of gameplay options and has a style very reminiscent of its time period. Its mixed building and continent bonuses are different from the average map.

Present Development: Progressing slowly, mostly from a lack of comments. Recent changes have been made to several aspects of the graphics to make it more understandable.

Name: Eastern Hemisphere
Creator: Oaktown
Stamps: Image

Description: What happens when you slice the world in half then age it 90 years? This map showing the far side of the world around 1910! It's the time when the great European empires are crumbling, and the creator has worked hard on making gameplay appropriate to the time setting. Expect a fresh world experience soon.

Present Development: The creator is still working on gameplay, changing connections and other abilities to balance things out.

Name: Empire Builder
Creator: Bryguy
Stamps: Image

Description: 8 players, 8 castles, and a famine on the land. Grab your empire's territories, but also grab the resources to feed it. It's a unique premise gameplay-wise, and should make play on it fairly exciting and ruthless.

Present Development: The graphics have come a long way, but presently the color scheme is undergoing an overhaul to fit the new famine theme. Updates can be a little slow when the mapmaker's schedule gets particularly busy.

Name: The Era of the Three Kingdoms
Creator: Gimil
Stamps: Image

Description: After the Han dynasty fell, three kingdoms arose to fight for dominance in China. Re-enact this bloodthirsty time period with this simple recreation of the region. The map is of average size, but the subcontinents make getting and keeping bonuses fairly easy and gameplay fast.

Present Development: Readability issues are getting resolved at present, among other graphical tweaks. Updates are happening regularly, which helps with feedback a lot.

Name: Europa
Creator: MrBenn
Stamps: Image

Description: The creator set out upon a simple goal: make a map about the way Europe really is, even down to Vatican City. He's stayed true to that vision, and the map reflects it, with a clean look to all the countries no matter their size. The map makes good use of natural boundaries to create impassables, adding to the clean feel of the map.

Present Development: Though presently on hold due to the mapmaker's real life, the mapmaker is more than open to suggestions on gameplay and bonuses.

Name: France, 18th Century
Creator: Pamoa
Stamps: Image

Description: The French Revolution changed the course of European history, so having a map based on the country at that time only makes sense. It's a simple, attractive small map, with classic gameplay. The clean approach to the map has made it very interesting to watch as it has progressed.

Present Development: Stalled waiting for another update, but interest is fairly high at the present time.

Name: Germany Revamp
Creator: Pepperonibread
Stamps:ImageImage

Description: The current Germany map, as many German members have pointed out, is quite inaccurate. In this revamp, Pepperonibread is redrawing many of the borders to more accurately reflect the real Germany, as well as changing many of the territory names. Finally, the graphics will be completely overhauled and replaced with, in the words of Gimil, "super cool, shit hot graphics."

Present Development: Almost all of the borders and territory names have been decided on. Pepperonibread is about to integrate these new items from the working paint image into the real version with great graphics.

Name: Imperium Romanum
Creator: Qwert
Stamps: Image

Description: The Roman Empire was one of the most powerful empires that ever existed. This map encourages you to build that empire for yourself by commanding legions, cities, and ships to gain an edge on your foes. Graphics are vibrant and eye-catching, with lots of Rome-related paraphernalia on the edges.

Present Development: Stalled in the midst of deciding gameplay options and resolving some text readability issues.

Name: Luxembourg
Creator: Ruben Cassar
Stamps:ImageImage

Description: Ruben Cassar has created a very simple map of Luxembourg. This map, with very few territories, should provide a nice alternative to Doodle Earth in the "small map" genre. The map is clean and simple, without any special twists or tricks.

Present Development: Luxembourg is proceeding at a good rate, with regular updates. The graphics stamp is expected in the near future, once some minor issues are dealt with.

Name: Madagascar
Creator: t-o-m
Stamps: Image

Description: Another small map in the pipeline, this time of the island nation of Madagascar. Gameplay is straightforward, and the territory naming accurately reflects the regions of the country. Graphics are fairly simple, which helps the appeal of the map.

Present Development: Gameplay is being heavily discussed right now, with graphical improvements sprinkled in. The map has come a long way since its first draft.

Name: Maze Craze
Creators: WidowMakers and yeti_c
Stamps: ImageImage

Description: This map is big: 454 territories big. And it has a very novel gameplay revolving around neutrals that reset to much higher values when they're conquered. This is definitely a map to watch as it develops further.

Present Development: Slowed a little bit since the XML code doesn't presently support the map's different neutral values, but progressing very well.

Name: Nubian Egypt
Creator: cairnswk
Stamps: Image

Description: In what the creator calls the third map in the Egypt Quadtych, the lesser-known part of the Nile, Nubia, is getting covered. It's a small map with fairly easy bonuses, and a dedication to the Egyptian theme that cairns has cultivated in his other Egypt maps.

Present Development: The creator is very open to gameplay suggestions right now, and the map's graphics have improved a lot from the original version.

Name: Oasis
Creator: wcaclimbing
Stamps: Image

Description: Calling Oasis a phenomenon would do it no credit. This graphical feast has taken the Foundry by storm, leaving several regular commenters drooling for the next update. It's based around a central objective Grand Oasis surrounded by decaying desert, and lots of one-territory bonuses sprinkled throughout. Watch out for this map, it's certain to change the way objective maps are made.

Present Development: Once again awaiting an update. The mapmaker is finishing up school, then he'll get the next version out.

Name: Periodic Madness
Creators: shadowsteel9 and TaCktiX
Stamps: Image

Description: The periodic table. Boring reference material at the front of that accursed chemistry book, right? Wrong, it's a place to beat the crap out of other people at the atomic scale. In this map by shadowsteel9 and TaCktiX, they have used the setting of the periodic table to craft a large and interesting map.

Present Development: The map has recovered from a hard drive failure, and the mapmaker has promised a complete graphics overhaul in the next version.

Name: Poker Map
Creators: yeti_c, Coleman, and WidowMakers
Stamps: Image

Description: Go all in with this take on a poker game. With a mixed-up deck spread on a well-rendered poker table, gameplay will revolve around creating poker hands through force. No bluffs here, this should turn out to be quite an interesting map.

Present Development: The layout of the cards is in fierce debate right now. Get your two cents in before someone re-raises your opinion.

Name: San Marino
Creator: Ruben Cassar
Stamps: ImageImageImage
Description: The Ruben Cassar formula to a T: a simple map based around a small area. It's attractive to the eye, and while being average size has plenty of bonuses that should be easy to get and hold onto.
Present Development: Awaiting movement into the Final Forge. Not many issues are being raised right now.

Name: Switzerland
Creator: Kaplowitz
Stamps: Image
Description: Switzerland is famed for its bank accounts, neutrality in war, and sweeping mountains. So have a hostile takeover on this average-sized map of the country.Graphics are simple and the gameplay matches, with only classic continents and impassables.
Present Development: There's a lot of discussion on the color choice in the continents and background. Updates are fairly regular.

Name: Upper Egypt
Creator: cairnswk
Stamps:ImageImageImage

Description: The second map in the quadtych, Upper Egypt is a very good-looking small map. Despite being essentially a line of territories, it avoids bottlenecking and has some of the more creative ways of using map space out there.

Present Development: Most feedback has been on clearing up map text, the bonuses and graphics have fallen into line.

Forged

Name: British Isles Revamp
Creator: Gimil
Stamps: ImageImageImageImageImage

Description: One of the most beloved maps in the game is getting a makeover. The creator has redone the look of the map to be much cleaner and geographically accurate to the Isles. Expect this one to be released soon.

Present Development: Awaiting small edits to finish the map up.

Name: CC City Mogul
Creator: DiM
Stamps: ImageImageImageImage

Description: The dice have been complained about since the birth of CC. This map aims to make that a non-issue by making every single bonus 5 times the normal size. Craft a shopping empire on this blueprint-styled map, and erect a manor and shopping mall to declare your mercantile victory.

Present Development: Significantly slowed awaiting the XML to be released by the mapmaker.

Name: Golfe du St-Laurent
Creators: Lone.prophet and Unit_2
Stamps: ImageImageImageImage

Description: The Gulf of St. Lawrence (French, Golfe du St-Laurent) is the world's largest estuary, but conservation takes a backseat to beating the pulp out of others on this map of the gulf and its surrounding areas. It's an average-sized map with well-done textures and area-appropriate colors. Its classic gameplay is without any gimmicks and should be easy to pick up.

Present Development: Awaiting a post-Forge update, but one of the mapmaker is finishing off the school year, so it's delayed.

Name: Lower Egypt
Creator: cairnswk
Stamps:ImageImageImageImage

Description: First in the quadtych, Lower Egypt is stunning on the graphics and rock-solid on the gameplay. It's a small map based on the Nile Delta, with plenty of opportunities to get bonuses. Overall, a very well-done map to look out for.

Present Development: Mostly minor edits, the mapmaker has addressed nearly all concerns thus far.

Name: Operation Drug War
Creators: edbeard, Telvannia, and zimmah
Stamps: ImageImageImageImage

Description: Multiple objective maps are yet to get into live play. That's what this map is addressing, simulating a drug war with cops, stashes, and much more. There are multiple paths to victory on this darkly rendered city nightscape, and multiple paths to defeat.

Present Development: Awaiting XML corrections to make it bug-free.

Name: Supermax: Prison Riot
Creators: mibi and Coleman
Stamps: ImageImageImageImage

Description: Rival gangs are at war with each other in a maximum security prison. They're willing to bribe guards, use weapons, and even take over the entire prison to accomplish their goals. This detailed map offers dozens of ways to build forces, and its gameplay is like no other on CC right now. Take a look at this one before it takes you by surprise.

Present Development: XML is in progress, and should be reposted soon.

Name: Sydney Metro
Creator: cairnswk
Stamps: ImageImageImageImage

Description: In yet another map by the everpresent and prolific cairnswk, he depicts metropolitan Sydney, replete with ferries, traffic crossings, and buses. It's a large map with small bonuses that should make gameplay fast and enjoyable.

Present Development: XML is complete and awaiting checking. Current discussion is about the text explaining the map's unique features.

Name: Treasures of Galápagos
Creator: cairnswk
Stamps:ImageImageImageImageImage

Description: Darwin would be proud of this map that trumpets diving for the biological riches of the Galápagos Islands. It's a twist on the conquest gameplay seen in maps like Age of Realms, and the graphics are suitably tropical.

Present Development: XML is complete, and final balancing is being doublechecked.

Recently Quenched

A big congratulations to all our latest quenchers. =D>

Name: High Seas
Creator: Oaktown
Stamps: ImageImageImageImageImageImage

Description: Take to the seas, and this time you're not attacking through them, you're attacking ON them. It's a subtle twist on our much-beloved planet, which generates interesting gameplay on this average-sized map. The graphics are reminiscent of a 19th-century navigator's chart, which adds to the appeal of the map substantially. It should be enjoyable to conquer not only land, but sea too.

Present Development: Quenched

Name: Iceland
Creators: RjBeals and zimmah
Stamps: ImageImageImageImageImageImage

Description: In a gorgeous rendering of the small arctic country of Iceland, RjBeals has created a visually stunning classic map. The map has tons of connections and a large central impassable that all continents surround. This map should be great to look at, and great to play.

Present Development: Quenched

Editorial

This week for our first issue of the foundry newsletter we decided we wanted someone who is special to the foundry to give an short piece of writing on "The State of the Foundry". AndyDufresne, foundry foreman and beloved monkey to all. A man who has been with the foundry since the dawn of time agreed to the task and gave a beautiful talk on how he sees the foundry from his eye.

AndyDufresne wrote:An Old Monkey's Ramblings, by AndyDufresne

Sometimes when I head on into the Foundry, I feel like an old monkey. I remember when there were maybe half a dozen maps in production in the Foundry’s early days. Heck, when we reached ten maps in active production I thought it was a milestone. We’ve got nearly thirty maps in some stage of production at this moment and many more soon to be Quenched, and more soon to be started in the Map Ideas. The Foundry is like a banana tree, though one seemingly never out of season.

When I first wandered into the Foundry I had no idea what to expect. I randomly commented in a few idea topics (I remember vaguely posting about the need of map categories eventually), posted a few thoughts in Discworld, Africa, and Ancient Greece Maps along with a few others. The Foundry seemed like a cool happening banana-shack, filled with fun, feedback, and fighting. Some of the earliest key ingredients for map creation I suppose. But when the last ingredient started to overtake the first two, the Foundry didn’t seem like the welcoming place I first stumbled upon. That prompted me to send Lackattack a message asking for some sort of structure and procedure for the Foundry. Little did I know that over two years later I’d still be in the Foundry, still trying to emphasize fun and feedback over fighting.

All that’s history; my, how the Foundry has evolved since its first humble beginnings where one could submit a map after page one of discussion! We’ve gone through numerous upgrades and changes, both in management and procedure. We’ve seen over eighty maps come through the Foundry, and countless more tossed in the abyss that is everything after page one, the Foundry Furnace. But while the Foundry has steadily grown and adapted, a few wonders have remained unchanged.

Everyday I can still feel the Foundry’s earliest roots in today’s cartographers. I can feel their passion erupting and bursting forth like a bullet from a gun, loaded with dedication, aimed at success. Cartographers of the past, such as Marvaddin, Jota, rocksolid, and Mr. K, subsequently passed their passion and fervent ferocity onto cartographers such as WidowMakers, DiM, RJBeals, cairnswk, mibi, qwert; the list really goes on and on. While their cartographic styles may all be inherently unique and distant from each other, they all continue to share the love of a good map, with great graphics and enjoyable game play. And of course, the other unchanged wonder that is still persisting through today, is Conquer Club’s enthusiasm, desire, and if I may say, hungry lust for maps that make us all collectively exclaim: “Jeez, what a beaut!” and “Haha, this is my new favorite map for World Domination!”

The Foundry indeed has been traveling on a long, and at times, rocky journey, but through it all, like bananas in a bunch, we’ve stuck it out, grown together, and have made the Foundry quite a home. Sometimes when I head on into the Foundry, I feel like an old monkey. And when I really look around and take it all in, I know I’m an old monkey — but one that’s still got some vigor, life, and fight left in him. And the Foundry certainly does too.

Spotlight

Every week we plan to do this spotlight section where selected a current map in development and request an interview with its cartographer. This week we managed to get a hold of the Foundry's most experienced cartographer, cairnswk. Here is his interview on one of his current maps, Lower Egypt:

How old are you? What gender are you? and where do you live?
A select few people know how old I am: ancient. I'm male of course, or at least the last time I looked I was; and I live on the Northern Beaches in Cairns.

How did you find out about Conquer Club?
By searching through Google for online games. I had played RISK many years ago in New Zealand. When I found out there was a map-making facility, I was hooked.

    What interested you in map-making?
It is the artistic challenge. The creative (left) side of my brain is responsible. Being a Taurus (ruled by Venus) I am naturally gifted in appreciation and applicable skills of the arts. I can also compose music and play keyboards; and enjoy good food and am well-versed in the arts of cooking, cocktails and wine appreciation.

What was your first map? Why that one?
Cairns Coral Coast. As many of you know, Cairns, along with the hinterland regions of the Atherton Tablelands, is an international tourist destination. The region has several geographical features that are included on the map which create formidable barriers. Plus much of the WWII Battle of the Coral Sea was fought from the airfields here. And of course a certain amount of pride to want to get the region on the map.

How many quenched maps do you have?
    13.

What kind of feedback do you like getting?
Everyone loves comments like "I like this map", naturally it feeds one's ego.
What doesn't get said often enough is why players like the map. Most of all though I like receiving constructive and proactive criticism. It is not always possible for me to think of the myriad of possible ways of doing something, and that's where the Foundry comes in. I appreciate this!

What "keeps you going" when getting a map through the Foundry?
Each map is a project to me. It has a start and end point. Completion of that process is fulfilling. When you think about it, lots of life's aspects are projects. This is no different. Knowing also that I am contributing to the establishment and growth of a business also helps ultimately. The business might be all about a pleasure pursuit, but it wouldn't exist and players wouldn't continue to join and enjoy the site if there wasn't growth.

Could you explain the premise behind this map?
Egypt or more specifically Ancient Egypt had been floundering around the New Ideas for ages. My first map addressing this region, Valley of the Kings, was an attempt to address this situation. Unfortunately, i think that most players still don't understand the basics of the Afterlife behind this Valley of the Kings map; but that is another topic.

What inspired you to create this map?
A desire to return to some classic simplicity that I had long buried my head in the sand with in relation to the demand for simply style games.
Also, because of the Nile Delta, i knew it would be easy to create the gameplay, design and other elements of this map.

How did you decide what gameplay and graphics styles to go with?
Deciding gameplay was simple: use the natural lay of the land, the geography, territories divided by the natural course of the River Nile, and use ancient dows as the vessels that would enable crossing of the Nile.
Deciding style was just as simple: what better representation is there than the buildings and monuments of Ancient Egypt?

How much time do you spend on each update? How much of that time do you enjoy?
This depends on how easy the graphic elements come to me. While I may appear to be "churning out" maps, each map has its creativity behind it. Sometimes this comes quickly for the design elements and process; sometimes, as in Waterloo, I "labour" over it for months. I think I had Waterloo on my drawing board for a good six months before I finally had that creative process set in mind.

Was there anything in the foundry that you found surprising or unpredictable concerning your map?
Nothing in the Foundry is surprising or unpredictable.
Everything is open to interpretation by different folks, what works for one doesn't necessarily work for another, so I expect the unexpected. Everything can be handled situation by situation, as long as those who comment give good answers to questions and remain relatively satisfied at the end of the day. It's all part of providing a service to clients, really; those of you who have been around for any length of time in real life will recognise that. That's why I always maintain that one of the main aspects in the Foundry is the maps. It is the growth in maps that keep this site alive.

Were there any suggestions that you absolutely loved? Or any that you really hated?
None. Every aspect is up for grabs, some are better justified than others, but on this map there was nothing that particularly stood out.

What do you think of the foundry process in general?
Best god-dang editing process I've ever seen in my life.... :) :)
All inclusive suggestions and answers for those who choose to participate.
It's fantastic. It's fraught with dramas, tantrums and tiaras from time to time; but it also requires a huge amount of contribution from everyone, including the loads of hard work by all the mapmakers, CAs and those who keep this site running.
Well done all 'round. =D> =D>

Community Perspective

This is the section where you the reader (yes you!) gets the chance to voice your opinions. Every issue we will post a title or theme which you, the community, is encouraged to write about. Submit your piece to have a chance to see it published right here.

Another one of our most experienced cartographers, WidowMakers, kindly wrote this essay:

What the Foundry means to me.

I originally joined CC in November of '06. A friend of mine suggested it to me, and I immediately liked this game. I was playing the 4 free games for a while when one day I noticed that a new map was available. It was Australia. I wondered to myself, "Where did this new map come from? How did it get here?" I then ventured into the forums to investigate and possibly to get some answers to my question. I must have never gone to the forums before this time.

Well, there it was: the Foundry Forum. It was full of new and exciting ideas for maps of places all over the world, and beyond. And it was simple: ANYONE could make a new map. Well, I was very curious. "Could I make a map that people would like to play?" I thought to myself, "I guess I could give it a try."

So I looked around and saw that no one had done a Rubix Cube style map. So I decided to give it a go. I read the map-making Rules/Guidelines and got to work. I started my First thread (viewtopic.php?t=9208&highlight=rubix) and it did not go so well. People said the idea was boring, or had bad game play, or said there would be copyright issues. So I abandoned the idea - and lost all of the images :-( ). Not to be discouraged, I marched on, looking for a completely new idea and game play style. The next thread I made was the KOTM thread, and here we are now, approximately 18 months later.

The Foundry, to me, is a place where I can learn/share ideas, and develop/practice techniques in regards to the world of digital art production. I learned and sharpened my Photoshop skills here in these very threads about maps. It was, and still is, a place where I believe anyone who is patient and desires to learn and to LISTEN, can make a good map that will be enjoyable to many people for years to come. I appreciate the friendships I have made as well. Both for their help with issues and problems, and their suggestions of new ideas and ways to make the Foundry and CC better.

The Foundry is a team of individuals that is made stronger because we are individuals. We all have an ability to help out and make CC a better place. It is one of the main places where you can make a direct impact on the site. But, as I said before, be patient. Listen to the people who have made maps before because they may have already solved an issue you are dealing with.

The Foundry is a place to have fun. Remember that. HAVE FUN!! There is no reason to come here and get stressed out. Relax and enjoy the time discussing and creating. Present your ideas clearly and be ready to take criticism. Again it is not a personal attack on you it is suggestion to help out the artistic process. The maps here are better for all of the criticism because it is hard for the original author to always see the issue with their own work.

And remember, if you have an idea for a map, research it first. Think it over and try to fix issues before you post the idea. Thinking through a map for a couple of hours and sketching up a draft will really help out when explaining your idea to the rest of us.
