2 Questions, Deadbeat Doubles and Cards

Postby Hoots on Sat Jun 13, 2009 10:19 am

1. Are you telling me that in a doubles game after a deadbeat misses 3 turns his partner gets his areas?

http://www.conquerclub.com/game.php?game=5030379

How can that be right? isnt this a advantage/stratagy?

2. Can anyone explain to me the use of cards after killing an opponent. Obviously if you have 5 or more after eliminating someone you can play but some times when i acquire less than 5 it will let me play and others it wont? I dont know what to plan for... Can anyone explain the rules on this?

THanks

You are correct on both. Although it is a bad idea to have your partner deadbeat out. Never works where you win 2 vs 1. Sure you can win, but not gonna happen.

I think there are a few occasions where it actually is an advantage. I haven't tried this yet, but I have been under the impression for some time that if you play dubs on usa Apocalypse, that its actually an advantage if your partner deadbeats right off the bat. I haven't tried it because its probably against the rules.

I saw it work once. Back before they changed the rules on deferred deployments. One guy missed 2 turns, the other missed 3 (we had exceptionally poor dice on these 2.5 rounds... ) when the one who had missed 2 turns came back, he had double the territories, and triple deployment from deferred armies. It actually prompted my first foray into the forums.

Overall, I think the rule works, but once in a while it can seem like an unfair advantage. That once in a while, is far outweighed by the down-sides of having a deadbeat teammate though.

The rule is simple, if you acquire 5 (or more) cards during one of your turns then you have to make a cash-in but otherwise you will have to wait until the start of you next turn (this mid-turn cash-in can be of 3, 6 or 9 cards). If you have seen anything else I do think that the mods would like a screenie and the game # as that would be a bug.
