How many users visit the forums?

I hear a lot of guesses about how many CC users visit the forums, but have never seen real stats. Does anyone know?

To be even more specific, I would like to know how many people are really active. This could be subjective, or not. It could be that a look at the users and forum posts, (excluding newbies if possible since they would skew the data a bit) will show a clear mode. If there is no mode, or if its too hard to get that type of data, then I would say something like posting on 20 different threads or 100 posts could make one "active" and over 1000 posts would make you "very active". (but any figure would work).

I am guessing that only a couple of percentage points visit the forums more than a few times, but is this true?

So only active posters count as active? There are plenty of people that read the forums but do not post regularly. I have 36 posts (37 with this one) but I read the forums daily, even at quarter to 11 on a Saturday night . I just don't post if I don't have anything to say, I bet there are plenty of other people in the same boat.

I would think a lot of people lurk on these forums.

A great example of lurker to poster ratios must be http://www.politicalbetting.com which has about thirty regular poster but generates thousands and thousands of hit a day. Lot's of lurkers.

This is true, but as hard as it is to track posters, I would think its even harder to post those who just take a look.

But that is also why I said posting 20 on different threads. I am just trying to exclude those who come into Suggs and Bugs or even Discussion with a single rant that might extend for some time before they leave.

If I had to guess, Id say the percentage of active players to active posters is far more than one would think.

I think primarily most are here playing the game with the occasional post. Difficult to quantify though...and Im certainly guessing.

Posting 20 on different threads daily? i would consider that obsessed . I read the forums daily not so much searching, but reading topics of interest that show on the main screen aftrer the last post. Most of the time i bite my tongue instead of posting.. . You learn alot about the individuals who post daily. I know who the kiss asses are
