Of course there would be a history of name changes---but agreed, it probably isn't the best idea, which is why Lack hasn't given it much thought over the years.

One thing I have thought is that you might give a little better (i e some) guidance on choosing a name. Something like "don't use your real name, part of your name or an identifiable nickname". Adults, are not such a big deal, but kids... don't realize that anything they put here can be found via google in a few seconds. Moreover, they don't realize that matters. While CC cannot take any responsibility for stupid choices, it would be nice if you at least made a couple of minor suggestions.

Indeed. We've had problems in the past with changing all the back history of a user---all the previous games, log entries, etc---and sometimes the engine would be unable to recognize change overs---or at times one server could be working with one account name, and another server with the old account name. It creates more problems and headaches than it usually would fix.

And then there is the whole other side of the argument about a user should be tied to their name/history, but I'm speaking directly from a mechanical and technical side.
