Experience is important. You probably learn best by observing others.

And there are loads of tips possible. But here are some (and there are allways exceptions): Keep your troops in escalating, and try to keep them apart. Makes you harder to kill, and makes it likelier that you can kill someone. And killing rules in escalating.
Don't go for huge bonusses, in general they make you a threat, and you get the bonus late. If you can handle that threat, then you should have won without that bonus too.

Sign up for the society of cooks - they have their own forum - they teach the basics.

try joining the society of the cooks, where u will be taught how to play the terminator style of game. these are multi-player games where u score points for each opponent u kill, so that u can improve ur ranking even if u come second or third in the game, as long as u kill at least one player. u don't have to be a cook to join. just start a new thread in the link below.

Buy premium. Join 150 casual games all with different maps and settings. In between your casual games play a ton of speed games.

Correction.. play 1 vs 1 to learn the basics of ANY map relatively quickly.

Just be aware that 1 vs 1 strategy differs from that in larger games. The rules, attack routes and such, however, do not.

(and I would not do no spoils unless you want to risk a stalemate -- fun for some, but not the best way to learn a map).

For serious gamers, your method can work. However, if I join 150 games, I won't have time to live. For some people, they don't care about rank, but they just care about having fun. Sure, some people are really serious. BUT we play CC for entertainment, right? IF we get all frustrated over not winning and don't have fun, what's the point? oh... and what if u join 150 games and loose all of them. You might get score 1.
