I wonder what percentage from some of the under-represented countries are ex-pats? This occoured to me after realising that every single China-based player I have encountered came from the US/EU/Western zone. If, for example, Thailand is doing unusually well, does that not suggest that, for some reason, that Thailand attracts (in unusual numbers) Western people with a mind to playing Risk well?

Therefore, the reason why the US, Canada and the UK (all countries that are attracting a large amount of players) are all around the same mark, is because they represent the standard pool of people.

Countries like Thailand have ex-pats who are partial to Risk.

So ex-pats play Risk the best!

However, China seems to be military medium (though we have a few officers I know), suggesting that ex-pats here tend to have no unusual capacity for Risk...or at least climbing scoreboards. ;)

A MUCH more intersting table would to see what kinds of people occupy which positions. Get the occupation of every member on CC (not easy I know!). We might find out that the lawyers average out the highest, or maybe the political consultants, or is it the university students who have some much time on their hands...

LN(N)-LN(#)

Where of course, "N" = total number of active "Good" players and
"#" = the player's rank

I dont understand this matematic.Good old formula to get COuntry Scoreboard if you counting results and then to divide with number of players-and this is real result per player.

R+R+R+R...../NP=real score of country

R-player result
NP-number of players-
---------------------
example
You have 5 players from one country and hes scores is -1500,1240,2300,2875,3300,so you caunting all 5 results and divide with 5,and you get score by country.
1500+1240+2300+2875+3300/5=2243 points
--------------------------------------------------
This is how you get real score, and i realy dont understand yours formula. :?

I demand Puerto Rico be consolidated with the U.S. for purposes of these statistics.

In point of fact I quote Article I, Section I of the Constitution of Puerto Rico -

The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico is hereby constituted. Its political power emanates from the people and shall be exercised in accordance with their will, within the terms of the compact agreed upon between the people of Puerto Rico and the United States of America.

- and U.S. Code Title 48, Chapter 4, Section 734 -

The statutory laws of the United States not locally inapplicable, except as hereinbefore or hereinafter otherwise provided, shall have the same force and effect in Puerto Rico as in the United States, except the internal revenue laws other than those contained in the Philippine Trade Act of 1946 [22 U.S.C. 1251 et seq.] or the Philippine Trade Agreement Revision Act of 1955 [22 U.S.C. 1371 et seq.].

Mmmm.... I'm Dutch, but live in Mexico, can I choose which country I play for?

In other words: this is never going to be realistic....

It's not truly realistic, as score will never truly represent skill in every aspect. People cry that KH only has his score because he cheats at City Mogul and farms nubs, while at the same time, many players play completely random games, Doodle Assassins, which either supplement or kill their score.

However, this is a good read, and I do enjoy the hard work. I'll help USA eventually; random games for me

Dutch eh? How can I be sure about that. For all I know, you could be blackmailed/tortured by some hardcore Mexican truth-deniers right as we speak :-$

However... I might make an exception for you on the Dutch Scoreboard somewhere else on this forum

Don't we all want to be Dutch? I know I am. Really! O:)

I know you are. And my real (first) name is Robert too.

Ok, here you go (listen to the gggg): Scheveningse Scholletjes :P

My model is based on the assumption that the difference in strength between a player ranked 1st and 10th is exactly the same as between 10th and 100th and so on. If you simply take the scores of each player and take the average of that per country then you come to quite a similar result, However it's not exact, and I can't prove that it's correct.

# Score
1 5589
10 3988
100 2964
1000 2021
10000 1072

The difference in score is about 1000, but not exactly. You might be right though Qwert, especially since the difference with my model is so small. I don't know. Anyone else with an opinion?

You want to create Country Scoreboard-then you need to use formula like i present to you.And then you will get correct Scoreboard.Ofocurse maybe will need some limits(minimum 5 or 10 players per country)
Nobody here can not create formula by strengt and skill.
Ofcourse this is only mine opinion, and this will not be first time that someon try to create some new inacurate formulas to calculate some statistic parameters. ;)

What if you did it by continents, but with the US by itself to have larger groups?

Problem is, now all Dutch-wannabees know it too :?

Btw, you're not that famous Robert that lives in Mexico, are you?

They still wouldn't be able to pronounce it 8-)

I could answer your question, but then I may get the Dutch Secret Service coming after me

Okay, back on topic...

It might be interesting to see the combined score of the top 10 (or 20) players from each country...
Just to show what the combined best from each country is capable of...

Like Olympic medals, the biggest countries will have the most...
But what is always fun to see, is the countries that break that mold...

Oh... and nice work, Thai-Dutch boy, aka: Robert

I wish to be counted as a Bangladeshi -- which I am. I believe that will put Bangladesh on top of your weighted average scoreboard. :)
