Introduction:
First I would like to note that AOR 1 is by far my favorite map. Lately, I have been “farming points” and am now back to 1600 points (started at 950). You might of noticed me hosting many 1v1 AOR1 games, feel free to join.
About the Map:
AOR1 is a very even map, with no spot having a complete advantage. Some people believe Aoria is the ideal starting position as it is close to a port; however, that also makes it an ideal target. One must know how to play from each position.
The First Turn Advantage:
The starting player always has the advantage, he is (in my opinion) always on offense. These are the moves that first player should make from the following positions.
Aoria: Without pressing [Auto-Assault] attack the port Rit; STOP when ever your troops fall bellow 9, there is no reason to spread yourself thin.
Borun: Take Yrake, and if the dice are good, continue attacking Duht.
Ghry: Take Ayr, then Gunn. If you have some rolls feel free to take Eon; you will receive 17 troops your next turn.
Mua: Simply move north to Duish, take Aosa your second turn.
Figye: (my favorite) (watch your troop count): On this spot it is possible to take Xi on the first turn. Simply attack Ost, then Nyt. If your troops are low, stop, or continue on to take Chu. Depending on how lucky you got on your roles you could possible take Xi.
Xi: Same as Figye reversed
The Player with the Second Turn:
You are quite at a disadvantage already, considering the first player will always have more troops then you (on his turn). You MUST watch the Game Log. If you are playing a noob, and he decides to ‘reinforce’ one of his territories, he has revealed how many troops he has. Use this to your advantage, its your turn to go after him! The first player will generally try to increase his income, by watching the game log (see his income and how many territories he has taken) you can always pick the perfect time to attack.
Last Tips:
Just because the player you are attacking has more troops does not mean he might win. If you attack a port and find he has 1-6 more troops to than you, hold your breath and press [Auto-Attack]. You’d be surprised what happens.
