And yes, demographic groups DO change. That is my point. Population growths can be determined with much accuracy. And along with it so can party affiliations of these groups.
The future does not look anything like your map if you consider these projections. so, the real question is, Do you want to make a map that projects the future with some kind of accuracy, or just your own wishful thinking ?

It is my contention that the backlash that we are seeing today is a direct result of people looking at these projections, ...and NOT liking what they see. ;)

This map is like a science fiction movie, book or what have you. It could happen, but the probability of it happening, No! I have taken things I hear out here on the road and have incorporated them into this map. SO these ideas are rally not my own they are a cross section of how the American people are feeling right now. Let's take the Aztalan Empire for instance. There is a group named La Raza (by the way our new US Supreme court justice Sotomayer is a CURRENT standing member of this group) wants to reclaim the lands they lost in the Spanish-American war. I just used that as a possibility of them taking over what I drew in. (they actually would like to take over a much larger portion if the US). I didn't hear any complaints about Texas taking over from Missouri on over to Arizona. One person said I was being racist about The Outfit and the Italian flag. In this case I just used a known group which is called The Outfit (you know Al Capone?) and put them in control around Lake Michigan. Again is that possible, yes, but will it happen, NO! It is all based on a far reaching possibility, so what is wrong with having a non-real map on CC? I see a couple of maps that are based on books, 1 space map and only 2 futuristic maps - US Apocalypse and Global Warming. What is wrong with having another futuristic map based on political/religious factions (and I'm talking about the radical factions not the middle of the road factions) grabbing control of the country?

I say nothing! So in answer to your question is it your own wishful thinking? No, I am as patriotic as the next American. I do not want to see this country become fragmented. I do however want to see the government take more responsibility.

So again this is a probability map not a map based on demographics in the future. Hope this helps make it clearer.

I think that you are being a bit disingenuous here. The fact is, there is a growing fear in our country of the projections that I referred to before. That coupled with the loss of the White House to a non-white, is like a big wake up moment to these projections. And weather you are conscious to it or not, your map has expressed the angst of many whites today, that we are loosing our country and need to band together to take it back.

Hey porkbean,

If all the names were all sanitized like those of the Apocalypse map would you have a problem with Isaiah or allowing the map to proceed or are there other agendas at work here?
If this map is to be one that feeds this hysteria, I will not contribute my time to it. However if you really want to make a map that speaks to a more realistic future, I will be happy to do so.

I think Bible Belt is equally as offensive as any of the other names on that map. I live in that area and I am not a bible-thumper. That doesn't make me bitch and moan about the map. I think it's a funny stereotype, just like all of the other stereotypes the south gets from yankees and liberals - shotgun toting, rebel flag flying, crooked teeth having, overall wearing, KKK worshipping, shirtless rednecks.

I think everyone (not pointing out anyone in particular, although someone will certainly take offense and say they're being persecuted) needs to HTFU a little, and stop whining and crying every time something 'could' be interpreted in a racist/prejudice way. The world will never be perfectly politically correct. As soon as it is, you will decide something else is too non-PC, and the wheel goes round and round. With a human race as ethnically and racially diverse as it is, there are going to be mentions of those differences. That's a part of life and human nature. Grow up.

Well you can speak for yourself on that one. I as a white am GLAD to see an African-American in office. DO I agree with everything he is doing? No! I hear African-Americans also talking about we have to take our country back, not just the republicans, but also democrats, and we know the libertarians want to take it back. And as I have said this map is like a science-fiction movie or novel, improbable ideas that will never come to light. And I ask you again, is there a problem with having a map that portrays a improbable future here on CC? For the most part I see people who have agreed with that. The extreme global warming map is just such an example. Scientist can say yes temperatures are going up so water levels are rising so we have global warming. They can't even say what is going to happen in the future. They can say it COULD happen. That is all I am saying, 'It could happen"

I know, but it's one of those things that takes on a new meaning when in a different context.

I do appreciate the civility of this conversation. That being said, the map is just so darn rankling. I can't stand the us and them mentality going on.

i guess it is a fitting birth-pang in that case. in all fairness though, the mapmaker is being as accommodating as he possibly can be without fucking up the concept entirely

Actually, a futuristic map of the USA already exists. This map has no substantial differences to warrant consideration. Perhaps if a different Country was chosen... ?
Maybe a good choice could be Sweden. yeah, a future where Welsh shaggers invade and conquer.

This map is worthy of every effort to be saved & used. I myself just don't much care to play the other USA maps offered.

Nice work Isaiah. Just find a new theme or "acceptable" names.

These are easily, EASILY, the most ridiculous and hateful accusations I have ever seen in my limited time on this website. Frankly, I'm completely baffled. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. Unbelievable.

Can someone explain the 88 reference? Does Dale Jr., being from the south and a NASCAR driver, suggest some sort of hidden agenda of racism for this map?

Although, the 88's on the map, are standard for the map-making process, as it is the largest (in pixels) 2-digit number.

So yeah, like the map-maker said, this map was very much about the need to "take our country back."

Take it back from what? Well, all that stuff is in the map as it stands. Muslims, foreigners (especially Mexicans), and socialists (equated with the Democrats and portrayed with a Communist Russian flag). It doesn't really matter if the map is set 5, 50, or 500 years in the future if you portray America as besieged by present-day factional talking points. Let's not pretend that this map didn't emerge from a political background. Once again:

isaiah40 wrote: I hear African-Americans also talking about we have to take our country back, not just the republicans, but also democrats, and we know the libertarians want to take it back

Again, take the country back from what?

If he's really willing to change the thing, then I say unlock it and see how it develops. It isn't really unique, and there are plenty of US maps, but if the mapmaker is willing to change then I think he should have the chance.

I'm a White, Male, Conservative - so, basically, my opinion, will likely differ from the majority of yours. -Mainly because I don't wear my pants down at my knees, have dreadlocks which I stuff into a stupid looking hat, or talk like I have a fifth grade education with an emphasis on ebonics.

But, to those of you who have your panties in a wad because you feel you're always the victim of this or that - My GOD - don't you guys have anything better to do than try to force your psuedo-liberalism down everyone else's throat?
Don't you have girlfriends, or a local bar where you can go and shoot pool or throw darts?
Wouldn't your time be better spent getting laid than bitching about how wronged you feel because someone conjured a map and you don't like his placement or titles of groups?

If you've nothing better to do than troll threads looking for phrases which can be twisted into something that demonstrates how unjust and biggoted the world treats you - THAT is your problem.

Gross generalizations, based on uneducated opinions, and political fear-mongering, are exactly what the whole stink here is about. I really doubt that using more of those generalizations is the most effective tactic available for this discussion.

None of these things exist in the current version of the map. None of these things are bigoted or racist. This is all unbelievably ridiculous.

On a related note, I'm waiting for the crusades map to be shut down...

You're joking... right?
This site is overun with high-school to college age males who, while having no real experience of the world, always seem to put their two cents in about how the world should be.
"Fear-mongering"? - Man, if where somewhat places the Socialist, or how he labels the Democratic Party causes you to be be fearful, my suggestion is you drop everything right now, approach your father and punch him for allowing you to become such a pussy.

Please! I'm a fan of socialism. That's not what bothers me. In fact, none of it bothers me, but that doesn't mean I can't understand why people are bothered by it.

Being able to understand where people are coming from, regardless of whether you agree, or not, is essential to being able to think critically about any situation. Thinking, "they're just a bunch of whiny pussies" does not count as understanding.

I am an American. I am a Republican/Libetarian. I am a patriot of freedom and a supporter of what our country USED to be and stand for. I absolutely believe in GOD. I support the right of others to be who they are. (Well as long as they aren't terrorist child hurting murdering pieces of dung)

With that said you could of named Iowa little Moscow & put the hammer and sickle on the Republican bonus region and I would have LAUGHED about it.

Why?
One it is a GAME.
Two it is a GAME.
Three I don't feel the need to ram my agenda down others throat just so I can feel good about myself and what I believe in or find injury in all that is around me.

Have a great day!
