To make General or field marshal, (yes I'm going to answer even though I've never been above colonel), you have to do a few things. First you have to be good. Second you have to master a style of play. Not just any though, terminator or assasin probably won't do. Then You have to play that one style a lot to slowly go up in rank. If you master freestyle 1v1's on a particular map then you can play anybody and get up there. If you master 6 player std. seq. esc. you can still do it, but you will have to start playing only higher ranks when you get to around major or colonel, maybe even before that. Change the seq. to freestyle speed, and you can again play anyone you want.
If you master a team game, it helps to bring in low ranks who listen to you to buffer the ratio of your score to your opponents. For instance in trips you can have you, your buddy colonel who you've played 500 games with, and some new striper who follows orders.
Major are good to team with if you want to move up, because at any given time the best player on the site may have a rank somewhere between captain and conqueror. So there's not much difference in skill (generally speaking) between a major and a general a lot of times. The Major may just have chosen to keep playing public games and so on, (i.e. not followed the steps outlined above). However, if you have time to constantly post in the game, then you can team in dubs with a striper and just post when its his turn what to do. Quads are probably better than dubs and trips, because you can have several decent ranked players, and they will still offset your score enough so you can win over 10 points a game. (I'm saying once your rank 3,400 or so).
Well I guess that about sums it up. I hope this helps.

When you hit submit, it won't, and you would get a message saying "you cannot have more than 5 embedded quotes".
