stupid question.....missed turns

Postby AttillatheHun on Thu Nov 05, 2009 5:41 am

How many turns does a person have to miss to be booted from a game ? I think 3 in a row does it but what if the missed turns arent all in a row ?

For examples .....misses two turns then plays 1, then misses another then plays 2......then misses two more ect ?

I see this used as a cheap tactic where someone fortifies his borders heavily then misses two turns and when he plays the 3rd turn he get triple reinforcements. 1 set for that turn and two more sets at the end of turn for his missed round.

It drags the game out forever and leaves me in the position of either having to attack to bust his bonus to limit his reinforcements or else just hand him the game on a plate since noone else seems to notice or mind.

Im in round 33 of a game right now where a player has missed 7 turns already. Whats amazing is i have yet to have anyone admit to skipping a turn on purpose. Its always unavoidable.

finally, in escalating games people seem to always have an emergency that prevents them from taking their turn when they have 5 cards so that instead of getting 8 or 10 men for their set they end up getting 35 and double reinforcements.

I think there should be a limit of 4 missed turns total in a game and you boot, and that after the 2nd missed turn you shouldnt get any "deferred" reinfocements. this is being used as a cheap tactic far too often in games i play lately

as long as they dont miss 3 turns in a row they wont be booted... its a cheap tactic.. all u can do is foe him and rate him as u see fit too... there usually is very little benefit from missing a turn as u only get the troops after u end ur attack phase so they can only be used to reinforce... as for ur escalating comment, i would rather cash and try for a 3 card set next round then miss a card... can really hurt u in the long run...

i should say that if ur opponent is getting more then 3 a go, if u drop him down to 3 he only gets the number of troops for each missed turn that he starts his turn with... for example, if a player has 13 regions and a bonus of 2 he is getting 6 a go.. if he was to miss two turns.. and u break his bonus the round he comes back and drop him to 3 a go he only gets 3 to go and 6 for missed turns.. so a total of 9 instead of having 6+6+6 as if he just would of took his turns..

its not really a goof tactic, coz you dont really get any more troops, you just get the troops you would of got if you didnt miss,

Did you say goof tactic?

Back to OP. If someone waits two turns with 5 cards so that they get 35 troops .... it surely is a goof tactic.

Surely they are massive target for players getting 30,25,20.. cash ins.
Only a genius or a fool...etc.

The answer is, I think is to take the player out anyway, though it might seem like attacking neutrals - still the cards / faster game / retribution, should cushion the blow.
I know that alliances are lame (and not worth the paper they're not written on) - but you could try to get all the other players onside to kick the crap out of the serial turn-misser for a round.

I do agree with your point about 3 in a row being too lenient. Three in a game seems plenty to me. There have been other threads on this - the counter call was that for v long games 3 in game is not much (I don't agree, personally).
I notice some clans requirements are 99% attendance, so long games =>300 rounds - one way of breaking the deadlock.

For your info the thread was in sugs and bugs i think and was quite detailed

ok thxs......as far as the bonus goes he has all of oceania and far east and india so the bonus per round is 9+4+3=16 plus his territories bonus so if i let him collect he draws 16+32=48 plus territories bonus on 3rd turn . One point is if it goes unnoticed by other players they dont reinforce the borders they have adjacent to the serial turn misser.

For example you have 10 facing his 10 hes not building up so you dont thinking you have a trouble freeborder, end of his turn he drops 32 on it and now your outnumbered 42 to 10.

BTW....its round 34 and he just missed his yet another turn.

thx for the comments

imo that strategy doesn't make sense... the only reason its working alright now is because he is playing players that dont take advantage of the missed turn and dont seem to care that he is missing turns... he is risking a lot to have a 10 vs 10 border.. then missing two turns if he was to be broken there he would lose the troops for all 3 rounds.. it would just be better to take ur turns as they come...
