Annual awards?

Has there ever been a discussion regarding yearly awards for individuals? Maybe rewarding with a trophy or medal? How about 6 months free premium?

example:
Member of the year.
New player of the year.
Recruiter of the year.
Player of the year.
Mod of the year.
Map of the year.
Mapmaker of the year.
Best winning percentage.
Most medals obtained.
Most games won.
Most games played.
Thread of the year.
Most posts in the year.
Avatar/signature of the year.
Contribution of the year.
Suggestion of the year.
Clan of the year. (CLA rank)
Most improved clan. (CLA movement)
Best tournament of the year.
Most tourneys won in a year.

These are just a few category suggestions, I'm sure I left out some good ones. There would need to be a nomination period and a community voting period...,medal or trophy design and deadlines for all......many details to be worked out for sure.

Do you have an opinion or are you just playing forum police for fun?

Move to Suggs and Bugs if you like...however, I posted here for the purpose of determining interest level as there are more visitors to the GD forum.

I think the best way for the clan award would be to use the CLA.... we could add a Most improved Clan award for the clan who went up the standings the furthest as well.

This idea is in NO WAY meant to be an arena for flaming and the like, this is a legitimate idea to recognize the people who make this site, this community, what it is by their positive contributions toward it. There are a lot of individuals here who put a ton of time and effort into it and I think it's not a bad thing to show some appreciation. I also think if you are someone who wishes to engage in meaningful discussion on the matter you are welcome and encouraged to do so; otherwise those who simply wish to create chaos and spew trash toward other members and mods should find (or create) their own site and thread to do that......or grow up, whichever is faster.
