What happened to Pearl Harbor?

Played this map over 800 times and disappointed it is closed. Why?

Perhaps Lack removed it because he feared The Pearl Harbor National Park might sue him.

I thought they were updating it. Gameplay or drop changes I thought were the issue.

From the PH thread (which really should've been the first port of call before starting a thread):

I discovered this the other day when I was trying to start a game on it. I'm thinking if they are going to take down a map, whether to do an update or whatever on it, there should be some sort of announcement.

Guess had I known there was a PH thread (where?) I would have called on that port, but this way I got my answer without surfing the forums.

Did hear of a couple of bonus changes in the offing, I guess this is when it happens and you can bet your ass I'll be looking on 12/7 for a game!

You can easily find any "Map Topic" by clicking on the thumbnail image of the map---it'll bring up a Map Preview with a link to the discussion topic. You can do this either from the Game Finder/Start a Game, or from your own My Games page with all the thumbnail maps.

I liked this map. I saw a thread somewhere that they were going to upgrade it. Apparently, the +3 bonus for two of the same kind of planes is unbalanced (personally, I don't think so) so they're modifying it to reduce the chances of someone getting off to a flying start on the drop.

Good call relaunching it on December 7th.

I also like the map and think it plays fine. With respect to the planes +3 bonus being unbalanced - history suggests that it was advantageous to be in an aircraft as opposed to underneath one.......

Colton, I know you probably didn't think about this before you posted, but even 68 years later this is probably not one of those things you can get away with joking about. I mean, lots of Americans died that day. You wouldn't crack a joke about 9/11, would you?

Maybe you weren't trying to be funny with the "bombed to bits" bit, but that's the way I took it.

There was a headline announcement a while back... but the map will be back in a couple of weeks ;-)

Good to know that there was a warning. It's not too easy to get to the discussion topic for a map that has been pulled from the map browser page.
