Sending a PM to a game player

Is it against the rules to send a PM to a player of a game if the content of the message is not related to the game? Will I get auto-kicked from the game? I know that secret game talk is not allowed.

I was in a game and telling a player about plugins. I wanted to send him a PM with more info but first want to check if this is legal.

As long as you aren't talking about alliances or treaties or game moves you can PM someone.
