First Game question

just trying my first game and currently waiting for my first turn and got a few likely obvious questions

1. What defines the starting order - so basically who goes first?
I assume its random?

2. In a sequential game I assume there is one player that is immediately ready to do a turn (green) when joining a new game?
I understand they can wait 24h but why should you in a sequential game?
I probably missing something but i started two games and in both the player ready to do turn has done nothing or were they not ready to turn immediately when they joined game?

1) Yes it is random.
It's your turn in Game 6119336

2)In Game 6123835 the guy that set up the game randomly got to go first. He didn't just join it - he may have started it a day or so ago before it filled with other players. If you click on the name you can see the profile. This player is in the States so is probably asleep right now.

The order they appear in, top - bottom is the order they joined the game and the order of turns. But as said 1st turn is random.
