Feudal Epic - taking the village first

Postby Grifter on Mon Jun 07, 2010 6:30 pm

Is it possible to take the village first before conquering your own kingdom and then holding it long enough to repel any attacks? I tried this recently in Game 7003386 and it failed miserably.

I had good luck on the first turn to defeat the 10 neutrals. I had 4 troops left over. However the opponent opposite me also had good luck and conquered most of his kingdom on the first round.

On the next round I got only 4 troops which was not enough to conquer the village. My opponent got 7 troops and was able to eliminate the 10 neutrals.

On the third round I decided to go for bust and try again to take the village. No luck. I then opted to cut my losses and took another kingdom territory and moved my remaining troops to a defensive position.

On the fourth round I got 5 troops. I conquered two more kingdom territories and put 15 troops in a defensive position. My opponent had taken the village.

On the fifth round I got eliminated  A lesson hard learned. I figure my opponent did this with 22 troops (11 initial + 3 village bonus + 8 deployment). This was good luck.

Some my question is - has anyone managed to pull it off ie. take the village first before conquering their kingdom?

I've never tried to do that.

Its audacious, but I doubt its overall wisdom. Feudal Epic, or Feudal War are not maps that I am good enough at to be audacious.

Couple of things:
-sunny game
-escalating game
-why do you need to conquer your kingdom?

By making move like that is just throwing the game.
You gain a card whenever you bombard and anihilate region.
Expanding so fast leaves you open and is rarely viable.
If this was fog game and you had good dice that could work perfectly.

But never conquer your kingdom.
Leave one for bombardment and
other regions so you have a clean exit.
While bombarding you dont lose troops and
that +1 bonus wont have impact on the game outcome.
And try to keep even number of regions inside you kingdom.

But this is just my play style....

I think for this strategy to work the opponent has to have bad luck and waste their troops on their kingdom. I might try this again some time but be more cautious.

A player should not get a card for bombarding a neutral territory. They should have to actually conquer something. I will have to post this as a suggestion.

Its better to not get out early in 8 man esc. I think im still one of the top ranked guys on this map.

In 8 man esc.. take 1 or 3 territory's in your kingdom, wait till about round 8.. watch the log... wait till people are hitting each other.. then go clean up.

This is for fog btw..

I didnt see if you were in sunny or not.. in sunny yes I would get our rather fast and try to hold the village. But strat. depends on the dice... you start getting crappy dice while trying to get the villiage.. then fall back, because a direct battle with someone each round will cost you WAY more troops than that village will ultimately give.

Both these scenarios are for 8 man esc.. both fog and sunny... every setting on a feudal has a slightly diff strat.

feel free to pm me anytime you need advice or anything.

ok this is no fog...

listen... this is a tough setting for inexperienced feudal players to play. Its all about equilibriuum just like other maps.. but with good players both feudal's will usually end up in a deadlock in sunny.

Really the trick is to NEVER EVER auto assault... and try to get out early and get the village... but watch the guy opposite of you! (in epic, you always have an opposite foe) ... he is after the village too... if he gets it with good dice.. dont TAKE it from him ever.. that is a back and forth war that kills you both!

You try for his castle instead. =D

You have to be really really cautious and patient in sunny esc 8 man fuedal! Its sloow sloooooww slloooooww GOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

lol

Hope I helped at all.

This is the silliest thing i have ever heard. This is the style of play for this map. why would they change the rule for you.

I've heard sillier... like the guy who insisted that teammates all deployin on one player in a quads game is a cheap strategy..

Yes.

Whether it works or not depends on your dice and where the opponent is. And, once you have that village, there's almost no point to "conquering your kingdom"

I'd say thats pretty much the base style all fuedal players use, obviously adapted from player to player, but its pretty much the same.

The game board does not change if a player bombards a neutral territory. Also there is little risk involved which is what the game is called in the hardware version. However since this glitch exists I also plan to use it.

FYI - I think that deploying troops onto a single player in a team game is a good strategy depending on the board layout. That is the whole idea behind playing as a team.
