Check your RAM usage when playing. What background programs were eating up your RAM, causing minor (or major) stalls in random's dice interface?

For ages, I couldn't play speed games; insufficient RAM. Oh, I could join them, and even take a turn, but sooner or later (frequently sooner) my puter would freeze up.. it was a Vista opsys with only 2gb RAM, and Vista eats over 1gb, leaving little to random with. Recently went to Win7 and doubled the RAM and last night, finally got to play a speed game. Lots of hiccups still (Oh, for 8gb!!!) but no freezeup. And I got some of the good dice you didn't; attacked 11v17 and won with 6 leftover. Compensated for by 7 losses starting with 8v1 on another game.

When you think about how many rolls you have in one game, and how many games it would take to go up or down that much, it's extremely unlikely to happen. For an average players their score will stay within a range of about 400 or 500 points. So between 1,500 and 2,000 I could believe. But that is the lowest end of major and the high end of Sergeant. Another player might go from 2,000 to 2,500 back and forth. This player might be better than the first one mentioned. Or they might be playing different types of games.

Score can fluctuate based on game type, but if you are playing the same types of games there usually isn't more than 500 points between your highs and lows. But a players who's high's hit 1,600 is not as good as a player who's high's hit 3,600.

If anyone is going to disagree and say that winning is not a measure of skill, then what is. If you think that all games are decided by dice then why play. Either you enjoy shooting dice or you should stop playing this game. I personally think that there is skill involved in this game, and that skill is to some degree born out in your score. Although a player who is a private because he is playing ass doodle all the time, but was once a brig, is clearly comparable in skill to someone else who is currently a brig.

Random.org uses cosmic static to create 'randon' dice, but when cosmic aberrations wreak havoc in the universe, then of course the randomness of our dice will change...

There should be more in every thread where players are whining about the dice. People need to understand that random does not equal fair.
So yes, you will lose games because of the dice, I lost many games because the dice screwed me over. On the other hand, I am fair enough to admit that I have won a lot of games because I had good dice to.
Most people forget that they win may games just because they were lucky, but they are all starting topics that they are quitting CC when they lose a few games because they had some nasty losing streaks.

Georgerx7di made a very good point. If you are a good CC player, you might drop from Major to Sergeant because your dice where horrifying, but good players will eventually get back to the rank witch equals there skill level/game selection.
