The problem with this is that we're still just beating about the bush and whinging about previous examples of spam.
The issue isn't about how badly people have/do/will spam; or about whether you like it. It's not even about whether Spamalot ought to have been deleted.

It's about whether AK acted with proper motive. Or whether he did something he abused his mod powers to act in anger and to execute a vendetta.

All the other discussion here is futile, it's just the context in which the actual problem occured. So can we please quit discussing who spammed where, and whether we liked it? Can we instead focus on the matter at hand, which is did AK act impartially and as a mod in order to better the community, or did he just abuse his mod powers during a spiteful and private act?

Whether you like spam is irrelevant.
Whether you think Spamalot could have a different forum is irrelevant.
Whether AK's mod powers would have allowed him to delete Spamalot if he was acting in a mod capacity is irrlevant.

We need to enquire whether AK was acting as a clinical impartial mod, or as a vindictive bullying individual when he deleted Spamalot. All other discussion here is missing the point.

So can we please have an intelligent discussion about that point? Or can we get some official comment on it. Because so far, that hasn't happened; and that's what's the problem here.

I agree, its not about if anyone likes spam or spamalot, its about if deleting Spamalot made the forums better.

Don't post saying "Spamalot=Spam. Spam is bad"
enough people have said that and we understand how you feel. we need people saying:

1. Why spamalot was good.
2. Why spamalot was bad.
3. What deleting Spamalot accomplishes for the forum.
4. Was deleting Spamalot an abuse of power, or the correct thing for a mod to do in his position.

Let's break it down once again, in the hope of gettng a straight answer this time:

AK is trying to retrospecitvely justify an act of spite and anger as a forum clean-up. When he deleted Spamalot, he never intended to cut down on spam; he intended to upset a group of posters he didn't like.
If it was just a spam clear-up then what was the "find a random post" game about? What was the changing the OP about? Were those the acts of a mod cleaning up the forums, or were they the acts of a bullying poster using his mod-powers capriciously?
Come on wicked. This is the issue that you've refused to engage with.
Do you or do you not think that AK was acting with utmost propriety when he deleted Spmalot? Or are you well aware that he wasn't?
The issue here isn't spam; it's about why what was done was done. The motive for the action was improper; that's the thing that was wrongful. The target of the action doesn't matter; we care about why the action was done. And we care about the consequences of that wrongful action.

You have your threads about the Bible. You stay out of our threads because they don't interest you, we don't spam your threads, or just stay out of them completely. And to clarify what I meant... mods have each other's backs. We don't disagree in public, we discuss things behind closed doors and present a unified front. So whatever decision Andy makes, even if I don't agree with it, will be what I endorse. That's how it goes and why I haven't commented with my opinions... however I did vote.
