No doubt this thread will be gone shortly, come on CC what has happened?? this is the best map it is the basis that the site was built on, are you saying that you cant change the odd thing you have to change it completely ??

I dont like the change and no doubt there will be many more

most agree, but their hands are tied my friend, it was a possible copyright issue

This can't be a last minute thing - surely we should have been informed of the change beforehand. I'm sure, with time, the map makers could make something a lot closer to the original without it causing any copyright problems.
I mean....it's classic! It doesn't even resemble a map anymore; more like some chemistry formula!

Is it seriously going to stay like that or is it just temporary 'till something more suitable is made?

The new "classic map" is the ugliest map I've ever seen. On top of that, they changed the bonuses! North America (or "N", as it's called now) is NOT worth a 7 army bonus. I am appalled at the new map. Please, please can't they do something to avoid copyright issues without destroying the best map here. Change the colours, change the names, change the look, but for the love of the game, please don't screw with the gameplay.

N does appear to be worth 7 .....for what it's worth.

Sorry to be flippant guys, it's been a long few days

So, from what I understand (and I don't know much) we had to make the changes that we did because of potential copyright issues. I don't know what else you guys want me to say. That's all there is to it.

As to how ugly it is, sure, it can be revamped, and hopefully will be, it's not my favourite map right now However, it's got to steer well clear of any possible copyright concerns.

There's not much else I can say, I'm afraid...apologies for trying to make light of the grave changes to the maps.

Curious, how can anyone have a copyright claim on a map of the world?

It was the map from the old Risk game, which has copyright because it was the same image.

I admit the dice stuff is quirky... i don't know what to think of it. Can somebody elaborate on the "assaulting your enemies rules" somewhere?

Wow everyone should calm down a bit. Chances are this is just temporary fix to avoid legal punishment. Look at the maps that have been made by the community - I'm 100% sure in the next few weeks people will have come up with alternative graphics/dice etc
