No Timminz, pm aren't for FLAMING as you would like to point out.

Personally, I don't care about your opinions, since they usually come from the empty void between your ears.

Sure they are. As long as you send them to someone who's interested in a FLAME WAR. Just don't send them to any pussies, and you can FLAME to your heart's content.

A new low has been reached, a new depth plumbed. This is maybe the saddest thing I've ever seen written down.

Jim, I think people don't want a filter because they don't want it. Moderation is a separate issue

See. There's a perfect example of what you're not supposed to do. Had you simply PM'd me, we we could have had a nice back-and-forth, ending with you blocking my PMs because you just can't take the savage verbal beatings any more. Instead, you're likely to get yet another warning for FLAMING where you shouldn't.

So the vote is stacked against the introduction of a Gamechat filter, is this because you feel that it is not required if there were to be Gamechat Moderation?

That is exactly my feeling.

After careful consideration, I'd say yes... but it should be an option.

I'm sure all of you have encountered that player, who flips out, types obscenities, and acts like their entire life is caving in around them because you made one of their imaginary troop-numbers decrease. There are children who use this site, and they shouldn't be subjected to the knuckle-dragging grade school vocabulary that some of these people use.

I understand the internet is a dangerous place and you can't censor your children from everything offensive, but there is no reason a 10-year-old should have to ask his dad what a "c*cksucking sh*tbrained c*ntmuscle" is because he offended some slovenly chat-room junkie by moving numbers around on a map.

Timminz, you're pretty pathetic. I never ran away crying or wished for the Moderators to protect me from those savages from FLAME WARS.

With that said, "Why didn't YOU pm me and verbally beat me up?"

Because I'm not the one crying for a FLAME WAR.

My point is (in case you missed it the first five times), if you really want these FLAME WARS you've been crying about for almost 6 weeks now (minus ban time, of course), you can easily get them, without worry of being banned again. Just find someone who is not a pussy (won't report you for "PM abuse"), and have at 'er, big boy.

Sorry Timminz, you're the one who stalks and FLAMES me all the time. You just can't have a "civil discussion" with-out bringing the administrators into your batlle of wits with me.

ok lads, if you could staunchly attack each-others positions whilst drawing parallels between Flamewars/PM abuse and Gamechat moderation/Filter,
That would be dandy!

Sadly even though i, the Thread-maker, am staying on topic and allowing all comers to voice their opinions in a relevant manner! if the thread deteriorates into waffle and tit-for-tat, the mods will take the opportunity to lock this down.

This thread offers the chance for us to draw upon a plethora of issues but we must bear in mind that its meander into the banal and peripheral will result in its death!

Now i do not think the general policy is fair, as the mods ability to customise the grounds for enlockment will allow for hijackers to get any thread closed.... but it is the reality.

So, all views welcome, debated with vehemence and passion! However please add a semblance of pertinence.
Make it flowery and abstract, lie to make a point, exaggerate your allegiance to the antithesis of your view if it pleases you.. but please make it entertaining and to the point.

On that point:- Do you, like me, think that Gamechat filter is unnecessary if Gamechat moderation is in affect ;)

Well Jim, I believe that most comments on your thread has said, "NO MODERATION of CHAT."

Plain and simple.

Sure. You're alright in my books. I admire your dedication to this thread. I can't say I would have been able to carry on as long as you have. If I had started it, I would have cracked 5 pages ago. Keep up the good work. Some of us understand what you're trying to say.

agreed Stone, and the vote has backed that up.

my question is, and i think that that answer will have more variety, :-is this based on peoples desire for Gamechat moderation which negates the need for the filter?

I mean, i agree that it would be unfair discrimination to censor people from Beaver Head, Idaho or those hailing from Dildo, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland (the people of Cunter, Switzerland may just wish to name the nearest big town for modesty's sake though) but the point is, if we do not moderate gamechat, what was the point in abolishing flamewars and cleaning the forums? it affects so few people as to have practically no cleansing affect on the whole site!

So, again, we must move towards Gamechat moderation, quick-sharp!!

Sometimes, just sometimes, players who got their head up their ass, during games need to be called expletive deletives.

It's called tough love! It works in the real world and in cyber-space.

Not only do I think it's unnecessary, I think it's ineffective. By the same token, I do think some form of gamechat moderation (even if it's only reactionary) is necessary.

Lets try to indeed keep on the topic at hand! If you'd like to discuss personal issues, PM or Live chat is suitable for your needs.

In extreme cases of harassment, abuse, etc, Moderators will step in and provide Warnings or further Disciplinary Actions. You can always report extreme cases via the Cheating and Abuse Forum, or via E-tickets.

True enough Mr Monkey Sir, (your new position brings with it the certain trappings of power ; ) and thank you for commenting)
But as you know, without some broadening of remit and greater acceptance of mod responsibility, the existing system is almost completely spurious as a means of getting a ruling on GameChat. *(Most people are completely unaware that they can even take such complaints to moderation.)

When all is said and done, all the rulings ever say are: "Place the offender on your Foe list!"

Now that's fine for old CC and i kind've liked that freedom but i had, after great consideration, hoped for more from its evolution to a more child friendly CC.

What is being asked for here is a commitment to putting Gamechat Moderation at the heart of the site, its facility known to all members. Also it must not be the paper tiger which it is now.

I'd prefer an option to entirely delete or hide the game chat. gg and gl or the variants gl m8, etc. is nonsense.
