Augustin, the day I can write French as well as you write English is the day I will correct any spelling/grammer errors for you or any other multilingual person. I applaud your effort at communicating =D>

I can understand so many people spelling "your" when they meant "you're" or "were" instead of "we're" because I'm not a total grammer/spelling nazi, but come on folks, post after post I read "loose" (in some cases 3 or 4 times in one post!) and I think Webster is going to change the definition just to accommodate all the misspellers on this site!

I find using "there" as "their" and vice versa, and usig "then" as "than" are even worse than the "lose/loose" thing.

you forgot your/you're

to, too, and two, of course.

But what really drives me to the point of psychosis, is the its/it's thing. I can understand some of the others as laziness, but using "it's" in places where "its" belongs is actually anti-laziness: the use of an extra keystroke where it's not required. So if it's not laziness, it has to be stupidity.

i'm quite sure the next dictionary will indeed change the definition of loose. because it's really common, and i also can't understand why everyone keeps typing loose instead of lose. I have seen this for years, and it keeps getting worse. I mean, how hard is it, i think the difference between you're and your and we're and where and were etc. can be a little hard for non-native english speakers. but come on, how hard is it to understand the difference between loose and lose.

Its the phonetics of it.

Loose sounds like "L u ss e" and Lose would sound like "l o z e" if pronounce strictly phonetically.

I'd actually say that loose/lose is far more acceptable than your/you're or their/there/they're. :)

That said, if anyone makes any of those mistakes I automatially disregard their point of view.

I let loose on the caboose,
as she tightened the noose.
Another grab, a goose,
and she felt my juice

My ooze did I lose,
but alas I booze
down the road did I cruise
hit the wheel...what a bruise.

If I lose on that caboose,
my ooze, my juice...
Ill booze and let loose
and bruise, from the spruce.

So one must not confuse...
loose for lose, for you will always loose
err..of course I mean lose.

___
Translation if bored or confoosed:

I let loose on the caboose,--- threw up on small train
as she tightened the noose.--- my necktie
Another grab, a goose,---someone had water foul on small train
and she felt my juice--- I had a cranberry juice with me

My ooze did I lose, ---small nail infection had some pus
but alas I booze ---30 year, single malt scotch
down the road did I cruise--- Someone else was driving
hit the wheel...what a bruise. --- goddamn spruce jumped right in front of us.

If I lose on that caboose, ---small game of cards
my ooze, my juice... --- Infection getting worse
Ill booze and let loose ---Too much scotch means too much vomit
and bruise, from the spruce. ---duh...

So one must not confuse... --- self explanatory
loose for lose, for you will always loose---incorrect usage of word loose.
err..of course I mean lose. --- correct usage of word lose.
