Look at the lack of diversity in the CC forums. Seems many players have chosen to avoid trying to have an adult conversation with all the childish derailers.

Solution? Go find a new forum on a different website. Problem (potentially) solved!

Bollocks.

Has anyone else noticed saboteurs and derailers in CC's "Whoes forum is it anyway?"?

More importantly, does it matter?

It matters to me that's why I'm voicing out. I may be a drop in the ocean, but the ocean is just a bunch of drops.

Hmm, there seems to be a pattern here.
I understand your view, respectfully I disagree.

Is there anyone else that has experienced the detrimental affect of derailers in CC's forums?

Anyone else experience the same detrimental derailing effect that has declined the quality of discussion in CC's "Whose forum is it anyway?"?

Welcome to forums in general.

If they aren't making an obvious derailment for "funsies", you get people derailing threads with strawmen arguments that they will continue to defend and bring up long after everyone else has pretty much let them know that they're wrong and bordering on retarded. They just want to end the topic with their point still intact in their mind.

It's only through strict moderation that the obvious crap can be prevented, the other is harder to deal with. However, I don't think "Whose forum is it anyway" is the place for that because it looks like and is a spam forum, so you can't regulate one topic over another. If there was a separate debates subforum, or serious discussion subforum where rules were enforced by discussion team, then maybe.

Since the first post expressly asked me not to post, I have politely refrained from posting.

But, then I came across a piece sage wisdom that seemed fitting to this discussion. Kenkō, a Buddhist priest writing in the early 1330s, wrote a collection of random thoughts to stave off boredom. This collection came to be known as "Essays in Idleness." In one thought he wrote:

Kenkō wrote:'A house which multitudes of workmen have polished with every care, where strange and rare Chinese and Japanese furnishings are displayed, and even the grasses and trees of the garden have been trained unnaturally, is ugly to look at and most depressing.'

Trans. Donald Keene, Essays in Idleness, second paperback edition, ISBN: 978-0-231-11255-0

If UC can't justify why his question matters, and if he cannot reasonably explain his rejection of his deserved punishment, then we can confidently conclude:

OT: 1
UC: 0

I concede,
Derailers +1
UC +0

Apparently the derailers are doing CC a great service by derailing topics in "Whose forum is it anyway?". And the ability of the derailers to wisely chose which topics to derail is of course performed to the highest standards without suppressing alternative views that they deem unworthy of further discussion in CC forum.

Truth is virtually impossible to suppress, and it can certainly survive the presence of a few wisecracks.

Genuine debate manages to shine through the noise without any difficulty, including the noise of alleged "derailments." The only debate capable of being submerged is that debate which was not genuine to begin with -- usually the sermons of pontificating demagogues whose ego is bruised so much by not having sole possession of the limelight that they cannot continue to preach.

As much as it pains me to give Dukasaur any credit, post of the year 2014.

True to form, you completely dodged the pertinent questions while blaming others for your own failings.

Called it! Thanks for giving us another example of your problem-causing behavior! Buh-bye, Captain Butthurt!

The O.T. Returns

Postby Phatscotty on Sat Jan 10, 2015 7:45 am

I got this, if not by having my name mentioned more than anyone else while not even being present, then surely by my suggestion of a new forum indirectly leading to some rule changes resulting in a much freer society, and that is win for everybody!

Yet I know more than a few posters who still refuse to participate in OT discussions for many of the previously stated reasons. Just glad those times are over and people can be who they are and say what they feel.

Remember, the foe button always remains an option. I only have one foe when it comes to OT, and it's because the person NEVER engages in topic discussion. They try to make jokes though, and if they were the least bit humorous I would have zero foes.
