what an interesting problem.

first of all, it's only a game, so negative feedback isn't the end of the world... I'm of the thought that if it can be sorted, then fine. If it can't then that's a shame, but so what.

lackattack wrote:Or is the solution to allow only one-way feedback?

No, definitely not. It would be a race to get the feedback in first.

I like your idea of the warning for neg feedback. That, and probably just keep the complaints the same - post in the forum and sort it out, and remove it if needed.

someone mentioned 3 strikes earlier, for revenge FB posters. You could, perhaps, have a 3rd (4th if you also include 'neutral' feedback scores) so show if someone is known for leaving revenge feedback. Reach a certain score on this, and you are banned for leaving feedback - maybe a 1 week ban at 3 offences, 1 month at 5, and complete ban at 7?

oh well, 'Extras' has started on the tv so I can't be bothered to check this makes sense

This topic has died, but the problem of counter-feedbacks - both positive and negative - still persists.

I have made the following changes:

[*] added not fishing for positives as a guideline

[*] added the confirmation checkbox for all feedbacks with a warning that deleted feedbacks now stay on your record.

Further solutions for counter-positives
I wonder if Phobia's idea of allowing a response for positives would help curtail the vast amount of meaningless positives out there? Another more drastic idea I have is to limit the amount of feedback you can leave to 1 per game...

Further solutions for counter-negatives
There is still zip_disk's idea which involves merging both sides into a single "dispute" item but I haven't figured out how to implement that...

By the way, there are 39,837 feedback comments right now

no, because people like the meaningless positives, as it ups their score. and their comments would probably just be meaningless as well, which'll just clutter the whole thing.

I don't like this suggestion because to many people a neutral is equivalent to a negative. Positives are ignored after there are so many. I could write "Worst player ever" on a positive feedback and nobody would notice. But if I write "Decent player, but too aggressive on annihilation moves" as a neutral, it would be perceived negatively. Neutrals and negatives are rare, they stand out.

Personally, I would like to see a deadbeat percentage if negative feedback shouldn't' be left for deadbeats. I would rather play with a really poor player with a bad attitude than wait for a deadbeat.

Not a good idea. Maybe you should limit it to an average of one per game, because some games are filled with more than one good sportsman.

Maybe if other people could leave like a agree or disagree to feedback it might help, because you can see how many people agree with the feedback after looking at the game. And it should be one per feedback of course.

This is probably abusable though

I think too much is being read into the feedback - if someone gives me positive feedback and i;ve enjoyed the game i'll give positive feedback back. If I haven't I probably won't give feedback - never given a negative feedback on ebay I think it will be probably true here. Only had one time I think I coul dhave entered a neg feedback - but couldn't be bothered tbh - posted on the forum instead :)

Would it be worth having the feedback the person has left (positive and negative) along side the feedback they have received. i.e

25-30,1-100

*example given Dugg Carrs :)

lack i got a crappy feedback for missing a turn here:

http://www.conquerclub.com/player.php?page=reputation1&callsign=wcaclimbing
it was just cause i missed a turn or two. even though i had said my schedule was crazy, he still left neg feedback.
i pm'd him, but he never responded.
can you remove it lack?

Edit: or do i have to talk to someone else to get this removed?

Agreed - missing a turn on a number of turns because the player can only play 10 minutes a day would seem justifiable - regardless of what the guidelines say! That is what the player comments are for to justify it.

Certainly I would want to know if the player joining me in a team game was likely to miss a number of turns.

I'm loosing track of the point of this system if it gets so tied up in regulation.
