Haven't met anyone from the site other than Terminalcase56 who I introduced to the game and who lives down the block from me in real life. I've met people from other sites so I'm not opposed to it here but it's harder to pull the rank card in person if conflict arises ;). In my experience, meeting people from the net is a mixed bag. Some of them are nothing like you would expect while others pretty much are. There have been a couple who were completely opposite of their online persona.

I don’t think I have ever posted at a gaming site where there is a message board right alongside the game. I can’t think of any. If any of that is making sense. I wonder if posters here have a different ā€œgameā€ personality than a ā€œmessage boardā€ one verses a RL one?
Yikes. I have no idea what all that means.

Clapper, Im not sure we even have to meet. You and I have been friends since I left you a negative feedback for fun, back when you and I led CC with the most. Weve played in countless games, shared countless jokes, and occasionally even have a serious discussion about CC. Certainly it would be nice to sit down and drink a beer while you drink your cosmo, apple martini, or kamakaze, or whatever you drink, but I dont feel like its necessary. While to some degree you cant ever know someone just by their posts on CC, I think on some level you really can, especially if you are good at reading between the lines, and really make an effort to get to know the person by what they type. You do have to be careful, because its easier to fake sincerity this way, but in the end, most are probably genuine.

As goofy as it is, I think its safe to say, that we are friends, and while I have some great friends, that I have known for well over 25 years....some of the friends in here, may actually know me better.

hmmm.....3/4 pint... 2 minutes....empty stomach....= sappy.

That may actually be the nicest post I've ever read on CC.

Important Tournament Notice

The data for ALL of my tournaments has potentially been lost. I am working to recover it but as I am away on business all of this week, there will be some delay. Sincere apologies.

the Bullet-Proof Bandits is a clan based on RL friends that all play on this site and hang out in real life. some of us have been friends for over 20 years, some of us are married to each other, some of us have gone forth to meet others in the clan we did not know previously. interestingly enough, it is 3 main factions of separate friends and the orbit of original and unique CC members we have all met and befriended at different points and times here on CC... sharing time on here with RL friends kind of makes the experience less creepy, and it gives you an excuse to call or video your buddy to talk about a turn or to start some games... when LV was in the clan, i used to love the late night skype calls to australia!! anyway, make your friends join, you'll have a better experience...-0

p.s.-there is a teacher on here that got a class full of kids to play CC after school for an extra-curricular activity... all those kids were pretty interesting and a few have stuck around to contribute within the forum and community... it seems when groups of friends/associates make a go at this site, they have a better experience...

Huh. That is pretty amazing really. Having RL friends as a part of your online gaming community would be pretty interesting I think.

I certainly haven't had a bad experience here over my first two months. In fact it has been one of the most interesting I've had in my 10 or 12 years of gaming and online interaction. But I'm pretty much a loner in RL anyway so that's not so different from my online self. That's pretty cool that a teacher would do that. Wish I would have had one like that!

Cheers.

I've not exactly 'met' anyone...but I have been stalking woodruff for the last month. Does that count?

I have a group of real like friends who play here reguarly manwiththeplan, spoongod, (otherwise known as my multis as they never actually speak ;) ) + Agent 86 and potager1. It certainly improves the CC experience if you are lucky enough to have friends who play.

Added to many other chaps I've met here (though not actually encountered in real life...living in China makes it a bit tricky) I'm certainly not short of people to play games with/against.

I can't say I have any real motivation to meet anyone I've met here. Might be rather strange I would think. However, I would consider maybe knocking up fruitcake for a pint if I ever happened to be in London.

He would of course naturally assume I was degenerate axe murderer...but what the hell eh?

Yeah. The first time I met someone from a game site I met them at an Irish pub. And had one of my buddies go there ahead of us. If I got nervous I was going to take off my hat and he was to come over and kick the guys arse.

I know. I'm an idiot. It turned out fine but that should have been my first clue that meeting posters in RL is just not my pint of brew.

I've met someone from CC in real life. But I don't know that he'd appreciate me talking about it.

Anyway, it was lots of fun, and the game of RISK we played was lots of fun too.

i think lack should hold some kind of event, in which we all meet, that would shut landgrab's gob, i think that would be really good for the general atmosphere of CC, anyone else think this would be a good idea??

Cool. Now. I know I'm new here. And I get what you are saying about the negativity. I'm certainly not a pie in the sky guy. At. All. But negativity is a funny thing. Funny. I say.

But for me it has ALWAYS been scary meeting someone face to face that I've only been online with. Always.

See, I'm thinking if RISK was envolved it might make the meet easier... MAYBE!

If "lack" is the Master of Villiage CC then, as a New Guy, count me in. If he is paying for the trip. And if EVERYone came from CC, do you think people would still be grouped together the way they are here? In their groups, etc.? Or would people branch out? Do you think?

Heh. Every night around 5:30 my wife, Mrs. Elfish_Lass, parks a yellow... gleaming... short bus in our drive way. Seriously. :D

She could pick them all up. But they would have to wear their seat-belts. Have. To.

She is tough that Mrs. Elf.
