first there has been almost no change that i have seen in farming, i am STILL seeing blocks of higher ranks making a game in hopes they be able to thrash a pickup group of cooks. just look in the game joiner every game goes

lieu
major
major
gen
empty
empty
empty
empty

EVERY DAMN GAME

i cant speak for our "conquerer" but what i can say is if he uses ^ that strategy he is JUST as guilty as the others.

the mods may be warning people but it sure as hell dosent look like its working

i dont want to bother the mods, they have done more than mods in some games, im looking at you diabloII, but the fault lies squarely on the shoulders you cowardly higher ups. you dont want to play each other cause you run the risk of losing points, but HELLO isnt that the name of the game? STOP being pussies and actually play each other! youre just supporting a social cast that shouldnt exist! you know why i'm such a low rank? cause i actually play my people ABOVE my station insted of low level people that i know i could beat. it's more fun for me knowing i actually can loose.

Just because a group of higher ranks hosts a casual game instead of a private doesn't mean they're waiting for lower ranks to fill it. I host casual games with clan-mates often, and have NO intent on having lower ranks join. In fact, I would prefer higher ranks joining because it's a better game, better points, and less potential point loss.

Someone is farming on low ranked players: fact

The question is, what is it to you?

Okay, yeah there is farming, but I fail to see how I am affected by it. Can someone explain this to me so that I can see a point in this conversation everyone here is having?

Something like points are weren't anything anymore because so many people get them from <1500 point player so there's a bunch of dead accounts people grab a couple free points off and yatta yatta. Inflation and all that.

I'm not getting into a full blown discussion but you are seriously damaging your own credibility by posting incorrect maths.

This one example can be contradicted trivially with Map Ranking lt.pie + quads + Waterloo.

Looking at the win/loss chart (NO missing logs so this is accurate) the maximum winning streak is 39, not 60. Therefore there cannot be a 60-0 win/loss vs anyone let alone cooks.
In addition even if you were to trawl through the games, there is no way of telling what rank the "cooks" you are referring to actually were when the game was finished even if it is most likely.

Look I accept that Lack has decided that farming is officially not a problem any more, as he has told me recently in a PM. So the last choice in the poll is indeed the correct choice. I do, however, appreciate all the other things that he and the CC team are working on.

I would just like to defend the credibility of my study on the harvesting technique of playing cooks in quad games on difficult maps. I never said they won 60 games in a streak. I said that after I applied a filter, they won 60 out of the 60 games remaining. That filter was: only look at games where Lt.pie played quads Waterloo against a team containing at least 1 cook and everybody below Lieutenant. These 60 games were not played in a row, I'm sure he played tons of games in between, so the fact that his longest streak is 39 wins is irrelevant.

I counted pretty quickly and may have overlooked a game, but one way to prove that I am wrong - which many seem to want to do before even reading my posts - would be to provide a link to a quads Waterloo game where Lt.Pie lost against a team containing a cook and everybody below Lieutenant. I allege he has not lost a single game like that, but has won 60 of them.

Just because lack doesn't think there's currently a problem doesn't mean that he or the rest of us don't care or are incompetent. It means the answer he gave was not an option in your poll. Lack defined things as farming new recruits and that has been addressed. According to your statement, he doesn't see a problem, which means he interprets the data differently than you do. That doesn't make him incompetent.

Well I didn't want to get overly verbose. What I meant by "doesn't care" is "doesn't care to thwart points harvesting techniques".

How else can Lt.Pie's 60 out of 60 wins against teams containing at least 1 cook and everybody below Lieutenant in quads Waterloo be interpreted? Is it not risk free points harvesting against players too disorganized to mount an effective resistance? Does it not lead to boundless points inflation among the elite?

I'm not advocating change here, because I now know it's futile, I am just curious as to how else this data could possibly be interpreted.

lt.pie is good at quads, especially when a team that has never played with each other are facing his team. There's a big difference between playing a game where both teams take turns and just aren't very coordinated, against starting game where 7 new recruits join with a minimum of 4 of them deadbeating out.

i think that all this sound strange...
CC is not only points! I have so few points but i can play and have fun.
There's more than points.
Newbie farming isn't good for CC, this is sure, but in my opinion Lack makes the rules and we can only respect what he said.
I feel so strange to read about people that can only say what is right and what is wrong.
And, If there's a problem the admins and the mods are ever judicated as guitly.
Perhaps it's time to understand that if there's farming it's our fault, memebers did and do it!
So try to live a full CC experience, put less importance on points, focus on developing maps, organizing tournaments and cooperate to have a better place to enjoy your days.
This is the only way to have a good future for CC ;)

I think that's could be true for all CC.
Don't think that a premium account make you owner.
Remember everyday what mod and admins give you...

This poll is complitely non-sense, i hope to see it for the last time. :(

I appreciate your feedback, but I noticed you neglected to provide your interpretation of the data, which you insinuated could be interpreted another way. Remember, the 60 wins out of 60 games?

There may be a big difference between playing New Recruits and playing quads against teams containing at least one cook and everybody below Lieutenant on Waterloo. But the numerical result is the same - winning 60 out of 60 games means risk free points.

Again, please provide your alternate interpretation of why this might not be considered a harvesting technique, a risk-free method of obtaining points, when it can be shown that players can win 60 out of 60 games using this method.

Farang, the poll question is clearly biased. You have also been given an answer from lack himself and have had the answer reiterated by Night Strike. I will do this for you one last time and I am locking this thread. Please do not make any more threads on the matter or you will receive a warning for trolling.

lack's New Year's Day announcement dealt with New Recruits and only New Recruits. If you would like to suggest a new scoring system or a change in the site rules, make a thread in the Suggestions & Bug Reports forum, not the General Discussion forum. If you would like to continue to berate lack, NS, and the other mods, you might soon find yourself without a soapbox on which to stand.
