"Luck" is a mythological concept, completely unbacked by any type of evidence, thoroughly unscientific, having no existence in reality, and tailor-made for the caveman, and for the unskilled and unintelligent to fall back on when they discover the fact that others are simply better than them.

This, Klobber, is a fallacy. I think you are cerebral enough to understand that luck is present everywhere, either despite or because of the form in which it manifests itself.

Usually your arguments are solid and entertaining to read, however this is complete horsepoop. You can't deny luck. If you and I go to the same convenience store and purchase lottery tickets one after another, and you win and I do not - what do you attribute that to? Circumstance?

By the same token, if I find $100 on the ground while picking up dog shit, what is that? Fortunate?

Both of these examples are "luck" - in a nutshell. Granted, luck cannot be proven - but neither can God and look how many people are suckered into that concept.

i think 50 luck
50 skill
sumtimes luck is higher
other times skill is higher
most of the time both are even

Conversely, I'm not allowing kiddicus maximus to "sucker" me into anything.

From my short time on this site, and my limited experience, luck plays a very big part in the game, that is not to say that skill can often overcome a moderate amount of bad luck.
But there is no doubt in my mind that if you have 3 turns of lousy luck at the start of any game you are in a loosing position, and a good deal of skill and future luck is required to turn it around, not always possible.

So luck plays an important part, but the difference is a skillfull player can limit the damage caused by a few unlucky rolls better than a less skillfull player, and can take full advantage of the good rolls, where a less skillfull player may not.

I would say that, depending on the game type, a lack of skill will cause you to be put out by poor "luck" in the first 3 rounds.

It is all skill, that is why we roll the dice.

If you experience bad "luck" (dice, drop, etc.) in the first 3 rounds, you should have little trouble staying in a decent position if you know how to minimize the damage. Of course there are exceptions to this.
