So the natural progression is from the banning of playing unranked players on certain maps, to possibly banning high rankers from playing low rankers with limited experience, to banning high rankers from playing low rankers on certain maps and on certain styles, to...?

There is a hell of a lot for Team CC to get their heads around in this thread.

The grey areas are simply enormous, for how can we ever legitimately judge ability or, for that matter, the level of experience required to have said ability? There are players who have played 500 games and are still poor at the game. There are others who get past 2,000 points before 80 games. There are many who shouldn't go near freestyle games who HAVE played 1,000's of games. There are many who have a low rank through a simple lack of interest in rank, but would surely be offended if we accused them of being mentally unable to have a crack at a sequential 1on1..no matter the opposition's rank or even the map.

Once we went down the road we did this thread was the inevitable conclusion. In fact I wrote that this would happen in the original farming threads that inspired the original rule change. Either we will now continue to see piecemeal rule changes, or Team CC will follow their thinking to its logical conclusion and either:

1. Ban low ranks from playing freestyle at all.
Or
2. Set point limits i.e a 3,000 point player wouldn't be able to join a game with any player below, say, 1,600.

What is more likely to happen is that CC will be typically reactive and make judgements based on individual cases as the community brings them up. The community naturally brings them up because the guidelines have been unclear and confused ever since the new guidelines on farming were introduced; for they set a tone without following it through, left a great gaping hole between playing question marks and genuinely playing competitive games. A fair few of the first page inhabit that space right now. So the community continues to test the boundaries and Team CC continues to scrabble around - unable to follow their direction to its logical conclusion due to that conclusion unacceptably limiting the freedom of CC players to play whomever they want to play.

CC is in a bit of hole on this one.

Seriously, I begin to wonder if the only way to "play fairly" and to "not farm" is to be a victim of farming yourself. :)

This isn't about Freestyle games, it's about the rank of the opponent, and their freemium status

I think targeting exclusively freemium players of a low rank is another form of noob bashing. You can almost rest assured they are going to miss a turn or 2 here or there. Not to be a dick but who really cares though, obviously nothing will ever be done about this except more rules to be made which equates to people finding other forms to noob bash. This is no different than a player playing 1vs1 on maps they specialize on in order to increase their points while minimizing the chances of their loss, whether it be Speed or Casual games.I have no respect for those players regardless of their score.I guess CC is paying the top scores now-a-days?Anyways,I personally could care less about this stuff since I know I am never going to be farmed.

this is simple, but massively stifling... points should not dictate who can play with who. Its almost a ridiculous idea, even though it would solve farming...but Its a cure worse than the illness solution I think.

CC is a game after all. If theres some point issues so be it, but to structure it so that people cant play together, that just takes all the fun out of it. Certainly lower ranks love the challenge of going against the better players, and to some degree are better for it. I certainly play against the best players when I get a chance...and even when I know I will probably lose.

I think some realistic moderation would be fine. Define new players as under 30 or even 50 games. Make it illegal to farm them. If people still target low ranks, thats unfortunate, but hardly as bad...killing bad players is hardly as problematic as killing new ones, who simply arent used to the game yet.

I see no reason players should not be allowed to create game and set point/rank restrictions upon creating them.I have seen it on other sites and you didnt even have to pay for that little extra option.
