That's where you are wrong. It doesn't matter what you do, or think you do, the fact remains the server DID crash.

DUDE THE SERVER CRASHED DUE TO EXCESSIVE SEQUEL TRAFFIC DUMMY... IT IS A SYMPTOM OF A MASSIVE SQL UPDATE. LACK IM CORRECT AND U KNOW IT!

oh come on guys .. let's start woith the truth and it will be much more easy for us to be supportive!

every time there is a big update... they apply the ratings update or change a map just for example ... the server mysteriously and purely coincidentally crashes due to third party culpability.

I am with you guys, i truly am 100% with you.. but please come clean and stop irritating me by moving my bloody posts and threads hehe. ;)

You got it Jim... thats all im saying.

Well, this sure helped me kill some time this afternoon...

I am surprised at a few things...
1. that the contingency maps for classic and middle earth are so unremittingly crappy, when any of a number of cartographers could have been tacitly approached months or years ago and asked to whip something up in case this happens
2. that the changeover to new maps and terminology wasn't immediately followed by an official announcement from lack, rather than this ad-hoc thread-merging and have-to-search-for-them messages from twill
3. that there was never any real communication with the community before this went down, when a thread soliciting opinions about how to de-hasbro CC (or at least some mention that eventually the site would have to make some changes) would've at least softened the blow
4. that this changeover is the first gameplay-related change to CC in six months (since the classic touch-up in april, and no, medals and ratings don't count)
5. that management never tacitly got in touch with yeti and chip and other scriptwriters to ensure the smooth transition of BOB and CM and such

Suffice it to say that this is a disconcerting turn of events that leads one to wonder just how on top of things Team CC is. The shroud of secrecy, lack of foresight, and pretty poor contingency options don't reflect well on how the site is being run. I suppose the real question is whether lack views this site as a business or a hobby.

And not to get people down even more, but anyone thinking that classic and middle earth will have revamped concepts up and running any time soon hasn't been to the foundry recently. I would predict that we're in for the long haul with the Lucky Charms specials.

Who cares whether it crashed because of the pending changes or because god got mad.

Anyone know whether there will be a foundry thread opened to consider revamping the map?

Was this because Hasbro said so? Or because of fear they would say so?

Lack views this as a business... he quit his job for it. That makes it his job which makes it his business.

While they can't copyright the world they probably can copyright a map of the world with those exact territories names and continents intend for use in a game based on the conquering of territories through the use of armies by rolling dice.

Because they made Middle Earth map for risk and therefor we can't.

There will be... I'm sure one of the foundry mods will either set up a competition of some sort (likely with voting from the public), or approach one of the more accomplished mapmakers and ask them to begin the long process (of which public input is the primary component).

I sincerely hope Conquer Club isn't selling out to a big media conglomerate. If that is the case, I'll quit, and I hope a lot of others do too. The entire charm of this place is that it's a small independent company. I have to give enough of my money to faceless behemoth corporations. Keep this place pure.

MySpace would probably still be cool if they hadn't sold out. Remember those kinds of examples.

Also, "Middle Earth", as with most aspects of the Lord of the Rings, is owned by someone.

oh my god, brutal doesnt start to describe this horse shit of a solution they are serving us
if lackattack didnt see the inevitable need to change the classic map for infringement right issues coming, then he deserves to see the downfall of this site

a site built upon the premis of risk, the classic version, you cant tell us that this wasnt discussed behind c.c. closed doors

c.c. obviously must consider its premium members to be as dumb as mushrooms, so in the mean time just continue to keep us in the dark and keep on feeding us more shit

Diamonds14 wrote:So the computer randomly assigns your guys an 'intensity level' so one battle your guys will fight like crap and another battle they can do amazingly well? There are no longer completely random dice? What are the levels based on.. if anything? If they have to be in placed (which i dont see why it has to be since dice are a common tool in games to get random numbers from 1-6) but if it has to be in placed why not base it on the amount of troops. If player X has 100 troops and Player Y has 5 the 100 should win fairly easy, instead of this randomness.. but i want it to be completely random.. fair chance for everyone. I really want to see these questions addressed.. this may determine if i continue my premium and/or if i even continuing playing CC.

Lower text is a quotation from the 'Instructions Page: Making a turn"
"You may now assault any opponent's region from one of yours, as long as both regions are adjacent and your assaulting region has a minimum of two troops. This part is optional in that you may choose not to assault anyone.

Each time combat is initiated, the game engine will generate a random intensity level for each troop involved. The outcome is determined by the intensity of the assaulting troops versus the intensity of the repelling troops. There are 6 possible intensity levels that may be assigned, listed here from weakest to strongest:

1. Pathetic
2. Sad
3. Decent
4. Strong
5. Awesome
6. Heroic

The more troops involved on either side, the better the chances that side has of winning. But not all troops in the regions are necessarily involved. To be more specific, the game engine will assigned a random intensity level for each assaulting troop, less 1 troop that stays behind, up to a maximum of 3 troops. Likewise, the game engine will assign a random intensity level for each repelling troop, up to a maximum of 2 troops.

The outcome of combat is determined by comparing the strongest intensity levels of either side. If the assault was stronger, then the repelling region loses a troop. If the repel was stronger or equal, than the assaulting region loses a troop. This process is repeated once more if other troops remain involved on both sides.

If you destroy all of the troops in your opponent's region, you will then have to occupy it right away by advancing some of your troops (but not all and at least 1) from your assaulting region to the conquered region. If you conquer a player's last region, (thus eliminating him/her from the game) the former opponent's spoils become yours!

During this part of your turn, you may assault any adjacent regions, as many times as possible, until you decide to stop. For example, you may assault one or more times from one region, switch to another region and then back to the original."

wait, wut??????

Andy has said that a Revamp will be initiated very shortly.

And it is all true, the crash should not be an issue at all.. but it was none of us who made the truth the issue. why was this sprung on us again when so clearly they had prior knowledge?

it would be really nice for us to move forward as a whole!
