Ok. Didn't read all the posts, but saw some alarming suggestions on page 1 that CC should get rid of maps...

I've been playing for 3½ years now. Until 1 month ago I wondered why the hell anyone would wanna play Crosswords. Never got it. Now, after having been forced to play it a few times, I realize that it's quite neat. In itself, it's a new experience to me personally. So getting rid of maps would really be a strange thing to do. Any map that has passed through Foundry is a good map.

The issue is not the number of pickles we have... it's the size of the jar.

It's not the size of the jar - it's the writing on the outside that stops you seeing the pickles in the jar...

Sorting by 'most played' is a really BAD idea... if you sort by that then the most played will be even more played... thus skewing the sort in the favour of the currently most played - and new maps will be at the bottom of the list...

For proof of this - see Classic Shapes.

Good point. Maybe all new maps should automatically go to the top of the list. Then they will for sure get a proper debut. If they are not popular, and don't catch on, then they will certainly move on down the list to find their rightful position among the others. ;)

I'm with Alstergren. There are plenty of maps I don't enjoy and don't play, but that doesn't mean they should be removed. The only maps that should be removed are ones that have gameplay issues - ones that should not have come out of the foundry in the first place. It doesn't matter if a map is ugly, hard to understand, or you just plain suck on it - it shouldn't be removed unless the foundry decides that its stamp should be revoked.

I'd bring back the original british isles and germany maps
As for getting rid of maps i wouldn't ,especially with clan wars and some tourneys leaning towards all random
The more you play the more you know ,and 1 trick ponies will have to get lucky with map and drop.

What about having a top 20-40 but once you are on this list the games played on it dont count towards its ranking on the list. You reset it every night or so? This would mean that the games on this list fluctuate a lot and it will be a true representation of the top favorites at the time. Hmmm just throwing it out there, I didnt really think about it to much lol

just leave it as it is i think. its the only way where no one has legitimate complaints. for example, classifying maps as easy/hard would make people less inclined to visit the hard maps, or big territs/small territs is always going to be debatable, since the number and size of bonus territs will change how the territ # affects the game, blah blah blah...

so leave it as it is. maybe rearrange it so that most played maps are on the bottom of the list? that gives lesser played maps a chance to be looked at...

thats my 2 cents.

I would put whitey's avatar near the lesser played maps. That would get them more attention.

What is more nice is I abused ronc 4 or 5 times before he was able to get his manual medal from me.

I could have held rank and got all my medals, but I am wanting to get them ASAP so I can be done with it. Otherwise I would not have so many doodle games running.

Agree completely. it's a soft way to make maps unaccessable, and to lower the level of play in uncommon (but many times awesome) maps.

Back on topic, the only map that is a total disaster, is Conquerman.

Ardennes is a really challenging map. I like a lot because the strategy that it needs. Battle of iraq, not for simple minds but a huge success too.

I want statics. Where I can see a chart/table of the most played maps and related stats???
