What would happen if the CC Flame Wars forum was removed ?

Isn't that a borderline flame? Hell, half of the clan doesn't even participate in the forums, so how can accuse the whole clan? Maybe you should look to yourself and your own clan. I read somewhere today that you were warned for threadjacking, is that true?

Back on topic, I don't think the FW forum should be deleted. It's a nice place to go and vent. If you are too sensitive and take things personally, then it's not the place for you, and you have the power to avoid that forum.

If you take away all the dedicated smoking rooms that include super high air filtration systems, glass walls, and signs posted everywhere letting people know it's a smoking room and don't go in there if you don't want to smoke, then the smokers (who still need someplace to smoke) will just have to smoke amoung the public, and now they can't find ashtrays so they just throw their butts on the ground as litter.

clever and witty is not flaming. i have never used foul language and have never called anyone a name. so, please refrain from painting my clan in a bad light, because you are unable to understand a lot of the nuances and references that go along with witty discourse. you don't even fully understand our clan or what we do or how helpful we are in reporting posts/multis/inappropriate language to the mods. anytime any of us break a rule, we receive warnings like anyone else, and watched more closely than most in the forums. you truly have no idea what you are talking about, and need to step back before you attempt to paint my clan in a bad light...

back on topic, if you don't like FW, don't enter FW. just like, if you don't like LIVE CHAT, don't go into LIVE CHAT. the only reason to clean it up is for the impending Hasbro takeover...-0

I've yet to see a good reason for removing FW be mentioned in this thread or anywhere else for that matter, just keep it until there is one, and when that time comes we can have a debate about it until it goes away.

If you don't want to go into flame wars, don't go in it. Simple. Deleting it will just result in more flaming in other areas of the forums.

When I joined CC, I had a pleasure to see that forum FLAME WARS exists. I was delighted!
I never visited it, though, because I have had about zero interest. But I'm still glad that such a forum exists. If that forum ever becomes really jeopardized, I'll defend it with all my forces.

Open question for edbeard and others who think that removing FLAME WARS would bring benefit:

A recipe for fighting against violence in some town... You can close all boxing and karate clubs; all places where you can legally use any kind of martial arts, any kind of fighting. Fighters will start to fight on the streets more often - which is not good in itself, but eventually most of them will be killed or jailed. Finally, the town will become a better place for living...

Do you support this idea? If not - why?

I guess it's nice to have that forum, but I don't think I'm alone when I say, I could care less either way. I think I've been in flame wars like twice, and that was just to read other people's stuff.

it would definitely increase at first (since certain peoples' playground would be gone), but in the long run it'd decrease. send a message that flaming is not acceptable behaviour. make examples of people who aren't playing well with others. as long as offenses are punished, it'll change the makeup of the forum.

right now people will flame and be told, "take it to flame wars guys". that says it's ok to flame until someone tells you not to. Or that if you flame elsewhere, it'll just get moved to flame wars later so no big deal.

get rid of it. get rid of that immature behaviour.

It looks like the some of the people who are most adamantly defending flame wars also happen to be the most angry, loud, and immature people on the site. I'm with edbeard on this: Get rid of it, and get rid of them!

Also, the options available for the poll are insufficient to describe what would happen as completely as edbeard has described above.

If you are truly that disturbed about scrolling down and seeing the latest topic posted on in the Flame Wars, then I guess you should do whats best for you and fight against it. But I just dont mind that much when scrolling down to clan forums. Barely even pay attention.

pinky... you do realize artimis bumped this thread from about 8 months ago, right? you do realize flame wars has been removed, and most of the comments in this thread are from well before it happened. months, actually... nobody is fighting for the removal of flame wars. it has been removed. the issue now is, the flame war regulars have no idea what is going on and why it has gone on, and they are looking for answers (rightly so). so, nobody is trying to get flame wars removed, it has been removed. you do realize all of this, right? you do realize all the FW regulars are now flaming up the other parts of the forum in an effort to get info. not a very smart tactic in my opinion, but it is what is going on. anyway, just making sure that you realize this thread was bumped by artimis and is not a current indicator of what is going on with flame wars.-0

Uh...plenty of them were STILL flaming in game-chat before Flame Wars was removed, so Flame Wars didn't impact that in the slightest. That just doesn't hold any water at all.
