Silence is best when facing litigation. They should take action consistent with respecting Hasbro's copyright and keep their mouths shut. We will just have to get over it.

As Jim says the more you tell us the more empathy you will recieve, keeping us in the dark simply breeds distrust and hostility.

There's been a lot of activity on the changes we made yesterday. A lot of upset people (myself included) and a lot of questions. Let me do my best to address those concerns from what I know:
1) The maps are fugly. Yes, we know they are. I personally agree with you all on that point, but we had to change them to avoid potential copyright issues. Andydufresne, and Oaktown along with at least one or two users have already begun work on a revamp contest to find someone to come up with something better. We're hoping it goes up soon so we can get back to something more playable.
2) <so and so> must DIE! - no, they must not. Please do not attempt to arrange any sort of lynch mobs, class action law suits, consumer boycots or intestinal stranglings. These will accomplish nothing other than to piss off more people which wont solve anything for anyone, and trying to strangle someone may just make things worse - we don't want murder on our hands- we don't want murder on our hands
Please let us handle any issues that are related to this.
3) Communication SUCKS, I'm leaving, you blow, how dare you, I want a refund - these are all fair criticisms and we are truly sorry that this panned out the way it did but again, it was something we did to avoid potential issues. All I ask is that if you have a specific complaint or suggestion please try to contact me. My inbox it flooding right now, but I will try to get to all of your concerns and address them as best as I can as soon as I can.
4) To those of you who have sent us best wishes, thank you. I wish I could thank you all personally because they mean a lot to us. I can only hope that these changes aren't too onerous and that we can continue to offer you a great game and an enjoyable site.
I know that this doesn't fix everything, but we are going to be taking steps to make things less ugly and messy. This thread is moving fairly quickly so please quote this message once every couple of pages so that future readers can keep up to date. I'm trying to read all the posts and am PMing several people to address their concerns at a pace it can be followed, but there are a lot to get through
Hang in there folks, pretty maps are hopefully coming

Here in North Carolina I preside over a criminal bench and do not get copyright or trade mark cases, but I will state this site does not need to get into any real discussion what-so-ever with us (itsā paying customers) other then changes that had to be made. The necessary changes that have been implemented would satisfy most any court that this is not a copy of the game RISKā¢. So any potential crisis has most likely been averted.
I find it interesting that customers on here seem to feel they have the right or need to know all of the potential details of any possible litigation. It is as if that information would enable them as a customer to make some sort of difference or possibly change the minds of the site that they do indeed know what is best. Thatās just not how a business is run that might face possible litigation. 90% of the replies to this thread do show most members do not understand the potential legal aspects of the change, nor the amount of money or years that it could easily waste while a simple injunction has the site shut down. I am sure they for the most part they appreciate your opinions but full disclosure is not necessary and potentially can cause bigger issues.
Whatās amusing is the amount of upset members that are going to leave over it. Do you think that is really going to make any difference? If I owned this site, I would rest easily in the knowledge for every member that leaves another new one will eventually find the site.
Perhaps with the huge amount of enthusiasm this has created on this site younger players might be interested in pursuing a career in law.

in this time where something bad has obviously happened, we should let them handle it the way they have to. im sure we'll get an explanation, but i would imagine there could be alot more going on than what we see right now. and i think an announcement several months or weeks from now would be better 'legally'.
cdcuase wrote:My concern was that any new changes to the classic map requires knowledge of what was wrong with it in the first place, and we have yet to get that information. The new classic map will apparently be developed in cooperation with the site members, but work can't progress until more info is shared.
