I don't know why it is, but has anybody noticied that the escalating strategy doesn't seem to work as well on the board game?
Srry pal, this is NOT the old school game. The old school game had wooden pieces. It came out in 1953 or thereabouts. They came out with the plastic crap in the early 1970's.72o wrote:dwilhelmi wrote:I recently even went out and hunted down a classic copy of the game that had the old army pieces (cannon, horse, trooper), instead of the goofy arrows it comes with now.
Noob. The artillery/cavalry/infantry pieces were the replacements of the REAL old school pieces that I grew up on, which were just plastic roman numerals.

This set was the replacement for the first plastic set that had stars.

Werd. The roman numerals were the only set I ever knew existed until the little molded figures came out. I didn't know Risk had been around that long. I'd like to see some of the wooden pieces, guess I'll google it up.
