limit on advancing troops?

hey,

im wondering, since when is there a limit on the amount of troops you can advance?
i had a 15500 stack and wanted to attack some, but when i tried to advance my troops it says: illigal assault move.
tried it 5 times

then i tried to do half of the troops and it was oke.

Well, if you look at this thread, it appears that the max troops you can advance is 9999
