Just saying, players who did it with City mogul weren't so respected because of their methods, and this is now more respected? Where is the difference?
congrats ccatman btw, I played vs him, and he showed great strategy skills so his playing skills aren't questioned in my eyes, but his methods are.

Big difference playing sequential games vs freestyle games in regards to attaining a certain rank. Freestyle is much easier by far especially if someone is unclear how to play a specific map than that of sequential. I'm willing to bet that the majority of conquerors were freestyle specialists, which proves my point.

in contraring to this, 1 minute game on hive map is much more speed needed than in freestyle games, so he beat his opponents much more due to speed and not so lot due to strategy. for example, you theoretically cannot beat him if you do not have clickable maps installed, so where is here skill? I am sure some of his opponents did not have clickable maps, or had lag or slow internet connection, so those games were in start wins for him.
to prove that, I challenged him on his settings, just asked him to increase 1 minute to 5 minute to eliminate speed factor, and play the game only with skill factor. on that time when we played I have played only one trench game ever in my CC career so I was very unexperienced at the settings, while he was already expert. in addition, I got second start. and I won, enough to prove that his main skill in comparing with other top players is speed, not alpha strategy. check Game 11702433
So I repeat my statement that Sequential+1 minute+Hive is much more likely ground for farming for points than Freestyle+City Mogul, because if you are normal player (not speed freak who has extremely good finger motion and knows all keyboard shortcuts to play the turn faster) you cannot finish your turns in time which leads to not being able to take/break bonuses, even if you have enough armies to do so. Problem is that you do not have enough time.
I am ready to repeat that challenge in best of 7-9-11-whatever if he is willing to prove that he is really alpha strategist, not only alpha speed player.

When's the last time a conqueror got there from points in escalating games?
